Dance Team Mock Try Out
Interested in trying out for a high school or college dance team?
Join us for a Mock Tryout on March 25th from 7:30–9:00 PM!
This Mock Tryout is open to the public for all current 6th–12th grade students who are interested in preparing for future dance team auditions.
Our judges include two current high school dance team coaches, plus a special guest: Celica Matsuo, alumna and former choreography captain of the South Carolina Dance Team.
The Mock Tryout will include:
A scored evaluation with written feedback to take home
A post-tryout discussion reviewing feedback and expectations
Demonstration of high school dance team–level jumps and turns
A short pom combo taught and performed during the tryout
This is a great opportunity for dancers to experience the tryout process, gain valuable insight, and build confidence in a supportive environment.

Music and Movement Inclusion Class*

Join us this fall for a new Inclusion Music and Movement Class. This inclusion class is for students with ASD (autism spectrum disorder), ADHD, or other learning disabilities that can make it difficult to follow a traditional or regimented dance schedule. Students will participate in whole group instruction as well as break up into rotations or small groups with stations isolating different fun skills utilizing safety mats for balance, jumping, tumbling, and overall coordination.
This class will be facilitated by Ms. Amanda, a SOPA instructor as well as a certified Teacher with 6 years of special education experience including ASD, learning and cognitive support, and behavior. She is also Mindset certified and an inactive Registered Behavior Technician.
She will be supported by Ms. Lindsey J., also a certified teacher with 3 years of experience in special education. Having worked closely with Ms. Amanda supporting students in these areas, she will be a wonderful addition and asset to the class. Ms. Lindsey is also Mindset trained.

Students will develop strength, poise, and flexibility as they learn work on barre and center floor skills. Girls- Pink or skin tone tieless ballet shoes, solid color leotard, skirt, ballet pink or skin tone tights are required. Boys- fitted athletic wear and tieless ballet shoes are required. Bring a water bottle. There is no recital participation when in this class.

Join us for a “High Adventure” this summer when SOPA takes the stage with Disney’s Aladdin JR! Your performer will love to be a part of our full show production and grow their triple threat skills. The show, based on the 1992 Academy Award®-winning film and the 2014 hit Broadway show, includes great songs from both versions. The story follows the “street rat”, Aladdin, as he learns about love, greed, friendship and more! Everyone who joins this camp is in the production!! Come explore “A Whole New World” with us this summer!
Auditions will be held in advance of the camp (May 27, 2026) and all participants will be in the show. All campers will be required to have a specific base costume and jazz shoes (color tbd) before rehearsals start. A non-refundable $275 deposit can be paid now to hold your spot and the final payment will be due the first of June. Performances of this 1-hour show will be at the Wadsworth Auditorium on Friday, July 18 & Saturday, June 19. All camp participants will receive a show t-shirt included in the price.

Everyone’s favorite red head is coming to SOPA this summer! Join little orphan Annie and her friends as they search for her parents in 1930s NYC. With a cast of fun characters, Daddy Warbucks, Miss Hannigan, Sandy the dog, and more, your camper is sure to have a great time learning all about theatre and performing.
This will be a full-scale musical theatre show with costumes and set! Campers will be cast in the show and auditions will be held before camp starts (Audition date TBA). All campers will be required to have a specific base costume and jazz shoes before rehearsals start. Performances of this 30 min show will be at the Wadsworth on Fri, July 17, in the afternoon/evening.
