Ballet L1 - AI/M
We are thrilled to share some exciting news with you. Royal Amelia Dance Academy has officially launched a brand new ballet curriculum, we have been working on it all summer and it’s thoughtfully designed to guide our students through a more structured and challenging progression from age 10 through 18.
This new curriculum is the result of extensive planning and dedication, and we believe it will elevate the training and artistry of every dancer in our program. It is structured into three distinct levels, three-season progression to build strong technical foundations, discipline, and expressive performance:
Ballet Level 1 (Ages 10–12): L1 students will remain in L1 Ballet for two seasons minimum and if their instructor feels they are not ready to move up two L2 after the second season they will do one more season in that level to make sure they perfect L1 technique. While this is just one example, one skill we expect our level 1 students to perfect is a double pirouette before moving to the next Level. L1 Ballet focuses on Introduction and development of classical ballet vocabulary, posture, and alignment. Dancers in this level begin cultivating strength, coordination, musicality, discipline and confidence in a nurturing environment.
Each level is crafted as a three-year journey, allowing dancers to develop at a deeper pace without rushing through the foundational skills they need to succeed in the long term.
Our goal is that, by the time our dancers graduate at 18, they will be equipped with:
Exceptional ballet technique and vocabulary
Confidence and stage presence
A strong work ethic and understanding of the discipline required in the professional dance world
A portfolio of performance experience that reflects their growth
The preparation needed to audition for college dance programs, scholarships, or pursue professional training
We are so excited to begin this new chapter and to continue supporting your dancers with the best training possible.
As always, thank you for trusting us with your child’s dance education. If you have any questions about your dancer’s placement or progression, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Beginner Pointe - AI/M
Dear Parent,
I am so excited to be teaching your child Pointe this season! Pointe is the pinnacle of ballet and requires a higher level of technique and increased strength and stability. Therefore, this year we are changing the requirements for taking Pointe. We would like all girls to take two ballet technique classes per week along with their assigned level of Pointe.
We are changing this requirement for the betterment of your dancer. Taking two classes will increase your dancer’s ability and will allow them to reach the level of technique, strength, and stability necessary to perform on Pointe safely. Lacking the above mentioned strength, stability, and technique is a danger to your child while dancing on Pointe which can lead to injuries. We at RAD want to make sure our dancers get the best dance education and grow, but we want to do it the right way and limit any issues that may arise without the proper training.
Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions and concerns!
Sincerely,
Amelia Son

Ballet L1 - WL/M
