Clogging is a dance form that combined percussive footwork with Appalachian figure dancing in the 1920s, and has evolved constantly ever since. We love to celebrate our ‘hoedown’ roots, while also enjoying new ways for people to move with and without partners, and connect rhythms with music–from hip hop to country western and everything in between.This class will focus on the basic 8 steps of clogging and starts at the beginner level suited for any age and skill level.

Clogging
Clogging originated in the Appalachian Mountains as a mountain folk dance. The roots of this quick step dance come from Irish step dancing (as seen in River Dance) and Holland’s wooden shoe dance. Traditionally, Clogger’s maintained a stiff upper body and danced to bluegrass music. As contemporary clogging emerges, other forms of dance are being incorporated and a variety of music is used. Ms Anne teaches this class and is a master clogger. Dancer can start with tap shoes and she will help you get clogging shoes.
