Dance Class Etiquette
• Dress appropriately and come prepared, mentally and physically, for your class.
• If you are late, enter the studio quietly. If you have missed the warm-up, please find a space at the side to do your own warm-up before joining the class.
• Listen First; then ask relevant questions.
• Always be attentive, especially when waiting for your turn.
• Don’t quit in the middle…of the room, of the combination, or of the class. Go with the flow if you are lost or confused. Never stop traffic.
• Limit your conversations when an instructor is speaking or helping another student.
• If you have missed a class, ask your fellow dancers for help and be prepared to do your best without expecting the teacher to repeat the missed lesson or choreography.
• Review class, practice and stretch at home to get the most of your class time.
• Refrain from correcting others (that is the teachers’ job).
• At the end of class, applaud or thank the instructor, assistant and/or musician.
