The Dance Company Policies

Welcome! Whether your child is a returning student or brand new to us, we are so excited to have the opportunity to teach them this year! Below you will find some information on what to expect for the upcoming season. We know that with your help we will have a wonderful year and look forward to sharing each week with your awesome kiddos!

Attendance: Regular attendance is essential for the progression of dance. Tardiness and excessive absences are inexcusable and not tolerated. There will be no discount or refund given for missed classes. If you wish to withdrawal your child from The Dance Company, a 30 day written notice is required. Please email letsdance@thedancecompanysomd.com to withdraw for the current dance season.

We place dancers in the classes that we feel is best for their development and skill level. Sometimes we have to make changes based on many factors. We will never change a dancers class without first having a conversation with the parent and dancer. We truly want what is best for them.

Important Dates: The date for recital will be confirmed when the Real Life Church calendar opens in January, however we typically have recital the second or third weekend in June. Recital and all rehearsals, including dress rehearsal, is mandatory for all students. If a student misses classes or rehearsal for the three weeks leading up to a performance, he or she may not be allowed to perform. If this happens, no refunds for costumes, tickets or any monies paid to The Dance Company will be issued.

Injury/Illness and Photograph Disclosure: By agreeing to these policies, I hereby release The Dance Company and their agents/representatives of liability for any injury to my child/ren or myself in class, on the premises or while participating in The Dance Company performances. I understand that in the event of a medical emergency where medical intervention is needed, attempts will be made to call the person(s) listed on the student's registration form. In the event that the parent or guardian cannot be reached for the health and wellbeing of the child, I give The Dance Company representatives authorization to make medical decisions that might be necessary until parent contact is made. I understand that my medical insurance carrier and myself are financially responsible for any medical treatment extended to the child and that The Dance Company and its agents or representatives cannot be held liable or accountable for such medical treatment. Furthermore, The Dance Company has permission to use participant's images in photographs, videos, and social media for promotional purposes.

Cancellation and Class Policy: There are several dates throughout the year that the studio closes for holidays. These will be disclosed to you when the dates get closer. The Dance Company reserves the right to cancel up to 3 classes, without a makeup date, due to unexpected circumstances. Tuition will not be prorated for these times. If we have to cancel more than 3 classes during the season a make up date will be offered.

Tuition: Tuition is due the first week of the month, depending on which day your class is held. For example, if your child’s class is held on Tuesdays, tuition is due the first Tuesday of the month. Tuition can be paid through the website for a small fee or by check. If tuition is not paid by the end of the second class of the month, a $20 late fee will be added to your account. Autopay is a great option and easy to sign up for through the parent portal on DSP. Autopay accounts get charged around the 5th of the month. If you fall behind more than 2 months in tuition payments your child may not be allowed to return to classes until fees are caught up. Please keep the line of communication open!

Costume Fee and Recital Fees: Costume fees are due NO LATER THAN October 15th. We ran into many issues several years ago with costume availability and shipment dates, so we have to order them ASAP to avoid delays and out of stock costumes. The costume fee is $160 per student for all classes except minis, which is $80. All costume fees are non refundable. The Minis class will receive one costume and one pair of tights for recital and the other classes will receive two costumes and one pair of tights. We will hold a costume try on day during class when costumes are delivered. Your child will go home with their costume that day if it fits, or we will keep it for exchange if needed. If your child ends up needing a new costume closer to Recital due to a growth spurt you will be responsible for the shipping fee to exchange the costume.

We reserve the right to dismiss any child at any time.
