~Folklorico Experience Tuition
~Each Student pays an annual $50.00 enrollment fee. This fee is non-refundable.
~Monthly Tuition is $50.00 Effective March 1, 2025
~A $10.00 late fee every week will be incurred if not paid by the 5th of each month.
• BFMA bills on the 1st of the month once you are registered.
~Tuition invoices will not be printed.
• EFFECTIVE February 1, 2025, all payments will be made through our autopay system. All major credit cards are accepted.
~Venmo and cash payments will cease January 31, 2025
~ It is the client's responsibility to provide current and accurate credit card information.
Credit Cards / Debit Cards on file must pertain to the account holder.
• All students (parents and guardians) must agree to a 6-month session contract.
The contract will be prorated if the student starts in the middle of the month.
~We DO NOT refund for classes missed at any given time.
• If payment is not received after 30 days, BFMA reserves the right to charge the account BFMA also reserves the right to stop lessons due to non-payment and drop students from classes.
• Before starting your first class, you must enroll, pay your registration fee and pay your first month's tuition. Ballet Folklorico Mexico Azteca
Expectations for 2025
• Make-up classes are only offered for classes that the studio cancels. This excludes holidays and classes canceled due to inclement weather.
~If a student misses a class or month, you are still required to make your full monthly tuition. There are no refunds for missing classes.
~Choreographed classes for Companies CB , C,A, B, A/B and A are part of of a performing group they MUST ATTEND all rehearsals. Failure to so will result in removal from the class.
Your annual registration fee covers studio maintenance, insurance, music licenses, studio communication administration and helps keep your monthly tuition costs lower.
REGISTRATION FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.

Registration fee and prorated tuition for the month are due at time of registration.

How monthly tuition is calculated?
Tuition will be collected for all months of the season. Some months have as few as (3) three weeks others have as many as (5) five; however, monthly tuition will remain the same.
Tuition has been determined for the entire season and divided into equal monthly payments.
FOR THE 2025 SEASON AUTOPAY IS DEFAULT
For your convenience, auto pay/auto billing is the default payment method. A method of automatic payment is required in the studio upon registration.

We will be performing at both park this year. In order to prepare for the best showcase this year we will be requiring the following of each participant:
*Fundraise at least $100.00 per person these will be your opportunities:
1. Annual FlapJack Breakfast $13.00 a ticket-minimum four (4) tickets per dancer.
2. Movie & Dinner Fundraiser $10.00 Presale $15.00 at door
3. Spring Teen Dance $6.00 Pre-Sale $10.00 at door
4. Talent Show $10.00 pre-sale $15.00 at door
*You are required to participate at the following events:
~Blessing of the Animals at Olvera Street
~Santa Barbara Children Parade
~Dia de Los Muertos at Olvera Street
~Montrose Christmas Parade
*You are required to perform at the two major showcases:
~Spring Showcase-Companies Polluelos, Pollitos and Company CB-4 tix per family.
~Fall Big Showcase-Companies CA, B, AB, A-4 tix per DANCER.
*****Request to drop and Re-Enroll Students
~Students wishing to discontinue their classes must fill out the “Drop Request Form” in person at the studio during working hours.
~Please DO NOT give verbal or email requests for drops. Failing to complete the drop form before the start of the month will result in a non-refundable tuition charge.
~If you owe any amounts for any related fees, the card on file will be automatically charged (whether on autopay or not).
~Please note, once we drop you from the class and make your account inactive if you wish to re-enroll into BFMA you will need to pay the $50.00 registration fee again.
~We will not accept verbal or email requests for drops. If you do not drop the class via this form before the day tuition is due (the 1st of the month) you will be charged a full month's tuition without a refund. ATTEMPTING TO CANCEL ON THE DAY TUITION IS DUE IS NOT PERMITTED. You are paying a spot in a class of instruction that otherwise could have been filled with another student.
Arrive on Time/for practice and one hour before performances
1. Uniformes para practica y el pelo fuera de la cara/Practice Uniform/Hair away from face.
a. Remember to wear your company uniform color to practice.
b. Arrive on time-You are expected to be ready within five (5) minutes.
c. Notify instructor prior to class if you are going to be late or miss practice by sending a text to 818-631-4288 two hours before class.
d. Be Prepared-you are expected to walk into the dance floor with your uniform, hair up with your folklorico shoes/boots and materials ready for that rehearsal.
e. Be Polite-You are expected to act responsibly and treat directors, instructors, parents core parents, teachers, and classmates with respect.
f. This includes respecting personal property. If it's not yours, do Not touch it, move it, go through it, look through it, etc. Golden Rule-Do Unto others as you would have done unto you.
g. Be Positive-You are expected to remain positive and have a 'Can-Do” attitude throughout the season.
h. Cell phones and other electronics are not permitted at any time. Please turn them off and leave them in your bag in your cubby until the class is over. If seen with your phone, you will be asked to put it away if you refuse you will be asked to the leave the studio.

i. Food, Candy, and gum are not allowed during class or the premises.
j. Visitors are not allowed on the dance floor.
k. You may not “hang out” in the entryway of the classroom, you may not hide in the bathroom or behind regalias.
l. Four (4) service hours hours are expected for Companies A and B dancers.
2. Parents-Participe/Get Involved – cooperacion/cooperation
a. We need updated released forms when changing your personal information.
b. Students over 18 must sign their own forms. You must take the Safeguard the Children class at: virtusonline.org
c. Pre-production mandatory rehearsal night/day one day prior to showcase otherwise you understand that you or your children will not be added to the choreography for that performance.
d. If late to a scheduled performance you or your child will not perform that day.
e. If your dancer comes with any one piece missing from regalia you understand that he/she/you will be pulled from the show.
f. Four (4) annual service hours are expected per family.
g. Each company will be assigned a celebration or event, if you are unable to attend you are expected to have a substitute in you place, you must provide their name, e-mail and phone number.
h. Awards Ceremony is our annual student celebration you are expected to bring your children and rsvp one week before the event. To assist our venue’s food preparation there will be No Ticket sales at the door.
i. La Posada in December is our annual Christmas Celebration you and your family are expected to participate. This year we will move it to January due to the closeness of the Guadalupe and Christmas Celebration. You are expected to rsvp one week before the event. To assist our venue’s food preparation there will be No ticket sales at the door.
3. The company is an educational year-round performance danza folklorico group.
a. All regalias (regional character outfits) are a lifetime educational investment. All performers are expected to invest on each regalia as requested by the director. A minimum of 50% downpayment is expected at time of order.
b. BFMA is a conservatory of Mexican Fine Arts, including folklorico research, music, choreography and high caliber productions.
c. BFMA is committed to preserving the traditions and customs of Mexico.
4. Desarrollo y crecimiento/personal development and growth.
a. Transitional Students also known as understudies are expected to:
b. Understudy students will have to attend two practice sessions each week until they are permanently transferred to the next company.
c. We currently have dancers on our waiting list.
d. Class enrollment, registration and orientation for new students/parents once a year, in January and June. A trial period of 30 days and a parent’s interview are required upon completion of those 30 days. It is a period where students/parents observe the class and discuss Expectations and Commitment.
Inversion de Tiempo, Talento y Tesoro/Investment of Time/Talent/Treasure.
To assist parents/dancers with understanding the different performance regalias and regions, parents will receive a regalia description booklet, you will be responsible for keeping track of your items in incomplete prior to performance you will be expected not to participate on stage.
5. Professional Workshops by specialized instructors
Some companies are receiving additional discipline art forms from professional instructors in their field, class cost is $10.00 per lesson per student once you commit to the class you are expected to pay the classes even if not present. Total $120.00 per student for 12 weeks. Advanced payment is expected at first class. Automatic debited once committed.
Presencia de Escenario/Stage Presence and other functions and events.
a. The group is maturing and although we understand that some of the older dancers may have piercing, tattoos, etc., please be respectful of the Folklorico tradition and remove piercings and cover body art at all performances. Nails will be inspected randomly during practices and shoes will be inspected prior to going up on stage on day of performances.
a. Guests are expected to wait outside the dressing rooms. If your guest (s) are in the dressing rooms they will be asked to leave; if asked a second time a security guard will ask them to leave, if they refuse you will be asked to escort them out of the dressing room.
b. During performances, all dancers and parents must be respectful to each other and their surroundings.
i. If we have small dressing areas, please do not remove or re-position other dancer's items unless a core parents does it for you.
ii. If the area is too close to the stage, minimize noise and make room for the performers. Please be respectful and work with your children to keep the area quiet.
iii. All level folkloristas will be involved in major and minor performances/shows. Performances are a required part of this discipline. You will be responsible for all dress rehearsals prior to any show. Proper shoes, attire, hair and makeup for girls will be required. Attendance will be taken before and after the show, if you are not there for the roll call you will not be invited to the next showcase. You will also be reviewed on your punctuality.
iv. Showcases punctuality-If late to a scheduled performance you will not perform at that show.
v. Parents and Students are not permitted to scheduled private performances, all of them need to be scheduled by the Director.
vi. Only Black Garment bags with name clearly displayed are acceptable.
vii. All garments and footwear are expected to be clearly marked with the dancer's name.
viii. Display professional decorum at all functions and events.
ix. PDA (Public Display of Affection) is strictly forbidden while in regalia, dressing room or performances. Remember you are a Mexican Folklor Ambassador you are representing a people; let's demonstrate respect, posture and pride.
x. ALL ladies are expected to wear a full body performance skin toned leotard.
xi. Companies A and B (advanced folkloristas) are expected to wear skin toned undergarments and full body skin toned leotard or skin toned camisole and skin toned performance shorts.
xii. All gentlemen are expected to wear white under garments (sleeveless shirts and white underpants) Short Hair preferred.
i. Companies A and B Gentlemen are expected to wear white leg compressions shorts.
i. All ladies are expected to have their hair up in a Folklorico bun NOT a classical ballet bun. No bangs, long hair preferred. Pushed back completely away from the face, securely tied with bobby pins, base and hair net.
ii. To keep to our cultural heritage nail polish and excessive long nails are not permitted. In the case where you have a very special event planned and you have manicured your nails, please cover up your nails with “Nail Polish Stickers” you can find them on Amazon or Ulta.
iii. Once on stage the directors, Artistic Director, sound, photo and video cannot be interrupted during showcases.
iv. The Artistic Director is not able to answer phone calls on show days. Should you have any questions please call your respective company Mentoring Parents.
All performers are required and mandated to the pre-production rehearsals as scheduled per company either night or day one day prior to showcases otherwise you understand that you or your children will not be added to the choreography for the next day or showcase and will not be able to dance.
Your Commitment:

Your commitment to all the performances is very important to the company and your companeros. We do understand that there will be instances where you might need to be excused. In instances where you are not able to participate you are expected to notify the instructor as soon as possible, if you don't this is disrespectful and demonstrates that the policy and procedures of BFMA are not being followed. Dancers under 18 must have parent notify the instructor directly minors are discouraged to notify by themselves. Should the minor be informing us of the absence it must always include the parent.
◦ I need every parent’s cooperation to ensure the company is successful by notifying the director at least 2 hours before class if you will be absent on your scheduled class.
If you are not going to be able to perform on any given performance date please notify the director in writing in the office at least four(4) weeks in advance and not the same day unless it is an emergency. Notifications via texts and e-mails to the director are not acceptable.
Your signature will be required every time you come to class; the sign in sheet will be located at the front entrance during Big Showcase Classes.
◦ If you have four (4) unexcused rehearsal absences during any given time you will be considered terminated from the company.
◦ If you have two (2) unexcused performances you will be considered terminated from the company.
◦ If are out on Medical Leave you must provide a medical excuse form.
◦ If you are clear to return from medical leave you must provide all clear medical form.
◦ Parents and students are going to receive an evaluation form either via electronically or on paper with questions about the group, please complete the surveys your feedback will help us ensure that we continue to work together as a group and to keep BFMA going in the right direction.
Please pay your dues on time. Dues are due on the first of each month if not paid by the 5th of the current moth you will incur a $10.00 late fee a week until paid.
Annual Registration is $50.00 per dancer. Paid every year.
Monthly dues are $50.00 per dancer until further notice.
Automatic Visa or Mastercard, Discover and American Express preferred and suggested.
◦ Uniform Sweater $25.00, T-Shirt between $15.00 to $30.00.
◦ 4 Service Hours per family per year.
◦ 4 service hours per dancer from companies A, AB and B.
◦ Annual Awards: Adults between $25-$70.00 Siblings- Children 3-12 years old between $15.00-$70.00 depending on venue.
◦ Posada-Expected full participation from parents and students. If unable to attend, you are expected to have a substitute in your place. Adults between $25-$70 per person Siblings- Children 3-12 years old between $15.00 to $70.00
◦ Regalias will be ordered accordingly with our current seamstresses via Mexico or the USA they are all custom made per dancer.
◦ RSVPs to events are expected for each family if there is a cost; full payment is expected at time of reservation.
◦ Hair/Makeup Workshop for new dancers will be scheduled with your respective company parent representative.
◦ New Regalia Workshop will be scheduled as new regions are introduced.
◦ Intimate shows and recitals, you will be required to participate in the fundraising efforts, selling tickets for the shows, t-shirts, candies, flowers, silent auction items, sponsorships, gala dinner tickets and kermeses. This is the best way to raise money for trips and regalias. If for some reason you cannot do a particular fundraiser, you can always raise funds a different way if allowable. Please remember that your vestuarios are used for various cycles, vestuarios are expensive, especially if multiplied by the number of dancers we have.
Concerns/Appointments
If you have any concerns, please let the office know before or after class and we will schedule an appointment time on Mondays before the Pollitos class to ensure we give you our full attention. Miss Amy is not able to meet with you during classes please make every effort to set up your own time with the office manager.
Please do not interrupt Miss Amy during class, showcases or productions.
Comite Mentor Familiar / Core Mentoring Volunteer parents. Our Folklorico Mentors will guide you in anything you need as a new folklorico parent. From offering advice on dance day preparation, make up, hair, regalia, getting together to celebrate special events so much more.
