Responsibilities/ Expectations Waiver

It is imperative for our dancers to represent themselves, their parents and the studio in a positive manner. Reputation is very important; it not only reflects you but the entire team.
Expectations and moral obligations:
_______Students must be on time for all practices/performances, and have appropriate costumes for performances. If you must be late, please communicate that in advance. If you are late to a practice it’s best to still come because not coming will result in an unexcused absence. Dependent upon the lateness, you may be asked to observe the remainder of the session as it’s sometimes difficult and unfair to those on time to hold them up while catching you up. This will be strictly adhered to.
______Students will be allowed 5 unexcused absences per year or may result in dismissal. If you are unable to make practice or performance for reasonable excuse, please communicate that information as soon as possible. If you are ill or have an emergency, please contact 804-895-6308 as well. If you are injured, not contagious and can sit thru rehearsal, that would be recommended and most helpful to you for when you return you won’t be too far behind. Routine practice is very necessary in order to have good quality performances.
_______Parents do not view classes, are NOT to open doors to classes nor to walk children across to classes. This causes distractions to the entire class.
________Students should adhere to the appropriate attire for each class as outlined, including shoes. Hair even braids should be secured. Lots of time is spent waiting for someone to secure their hair, it’s disruptive to the entire class.
________100% attendance in practice 3 weeks prior to a performance is mandatory for lineup purposes.
________Students are expected to give 100% during practice. Socialization is part of being part of the group and bonding is important but should be held to a minimum while in class so that everyone has the best opportunity to learn the material being presented.
________No horseplaying, disturbing others, speaking out of turn, clowning, while you may not want to learn the material, others are there and want to get the most of the experience. Continued behavior of this sort will be cause for removal from class.
_______Students with parent support must be willing to accept corrections and strive to make necessary changes in order for the dancer to grow in their dance education.
_______Cell phones are not allowed during class time. If necessary, there will be a drop off box or it must remain in their bags. If you must get a hold of your dancer urgently, please contact 804-895-6308.
_______There will be no gum chewing in class.
_______Our studio is a nut zone free studio due to allergens.
_______Dancers supply their own water. Water must be kept in designated areas to prevent spillage. Water and restroom breaks will be provided. We understand strenuous schedules but ask that you please keep snacks in the studio to a minimum for dancers who are there 2+ hours. Having a snack just before walking in should go a long way.
______Please ensure student uses restroom prior to class. Lots of meaningful time is spent with children in and out, it’s disruptive.
_______Remember, the best rule to go by, direct communication is essential. In order to become a cohesive performance team, we must garner camaraderie, dispel rumors/gossip, and ask questions to director so that expectations are met.
______Social media when used appropriately is great, when used as weapon to bully, to harm others is not healthy. Any negative comments from a student or parent on social media is immediate grounds for dismissal. We have platforms to meet, discuss, and sort out differences. Social media was never intended for that. The consequences of posting negatively can be life altering especially for our children. When in doubt, or something’s controversial, think about, wait 3 days, before you post, it will get better.
_______We will disseminate lots of information to keep everyone informed. Please share the information with your children. We’ve learned this connectivity piece is missing but oh so crucial, they will help you to stay on task!!
________Your signature denotes that you understand it is incumbent of you/YOUR responsibility to keep up and remained informed.
Financial and Contractual Obligations:
______Tuition is due on the first of each month. A $25 late fee will be automatically assessed on the 11th of each month, no exceptions or courtesy, while you can pay late, there is a fee in order to do so. We work on a pay ahead schedule for services rendered in 4 week sessions. Please note the payment schedule provided. Regardless of which session you are in, regardless if you have received an upcoming bill, the payment is ALWAYS due on the 1st. Failure to make payment including late fee by 20th of the month, results in student not returning until full payment and upcoming payment is made. It is possible to request an alternative payment schedule if needed but once set, the new dates will be in effect for late payments.
_______In addition, all costumes, invoices, workshops, assessed fees are to be paid on time. If these conditions aren’t met, student may not receive services or purchase any additional items until payment in full is rendered. Any payment received is applied to outstanding balances first regardless of intention or labeling the payment. If 30 days has passed, the student is subject be removed from the routine or the rolls in its entirety. Please see separate contract for costumes and other wardrobe materials.
______After 3 absences of which you haven’t contacted us, this is considered abandonment of your agreement to services rendered. You may be removed from the rolls. However, you are still responsible for available services although not received, items purchased or subject to legal actions.
_______Failure to pay up to 30 days after a service has been rendered is a breach of this contract and is subject to legal collection proceedings.
_______In cases where you are experiencing financial hardship, communication is the first step to probable assistance. We can’t help guide you if we aren’t aware.
______Your signature denotes this is a binding contract and you and your dancer understand everything brought before you in this legal document.
