Studio Philosophy
At Peacock’s Performing Arts Center we offer dance, music, and art instruction in a wide variety of styles. Our goal is to provide quality instruction in a positive and encouraging environment. Students will follow a structured sequence of classes intended to increase a student’s technical skills, stamina, and discipline in accordance with their age and physical development. Our focus is to prepare our students for their future in the arts and in life.
Studio Environment
Peacocks Performing Arts Center is committed to providing a safe environment. PPAC is a drug free zone. The discussion, use, or possession of drugs, tobacco, or alcohol is strictly prohibited. Any person who does not adhere to this policy will be banned from Peacock’s Performing Arts Center and all connected events and subject to legal action.
Our studios are designed with the dancer, musician, and artist in mind. Our facility has 3 dance studios, each with suspended floors to help prevent injury. We also offer 3 private music rooms, a dressing room, 2 bathrooms, and 2 waiting areas. We convert one of our spacious dance studios into our art room for art class. To keep up to date on studio announcements please look for studio emails, information on our bulletin board, and social media posts. We also offer a closed-circuit observation television. For your safety all rooms and common areas have video and audio surveillance.

For students interested in becoming future dance educators, PPAC offers a Teacher Mentor Program. Participants work one-on-one with experienced instructors to develop teaching skills, including lesson planning, classroom management, proper terminology, and effective instructional techniques in a fun and supportive environment.

Registration & Class Placement
Registration
Registration is processed on a first come, first served basis. Returning students receive priority registration; however, class spots are not held, and classes may fill quickly. We encourage families to register as early as possible. Once priority registration ends, all new and returning registrations are processed in the order received. A minimum enrollment is required for each class to be offered.
Class Placement
Classes are organized by a student's age, ability, and technical development. Unlike school grades, dancers do not automatically advance to the next level each year. Our goal is to ensure that every student has the strength, confidence, and technical foundation needed before progressing.
Because every dancer develops at a different pace, some students may remain in a level longer while others advance more quickly. Placement decisions are based on individual progress, previous training, skill level, and overall readiness; not age alone.
New students first grade and below should register according to our age guidelines. Students with previous dance experience may be evaluated to determine the most appropriate placement. All class placement decisions are made by the Artistic Director and are final.
We believe proper placement builds confidence, encourages steady progress, and helps every dancer achieve long-term success.
Class Structure
At Peacock's Performing Arts Center, every class is thoughtfully planned to provide students with a well-rounded learning experience while meeting the unique goals of each age group and discipline.
Our early childhood classes are designed to keep young dancers engaged while building foundational skills. These classes typically include a warm-up, dance vocabulary, across-the-floor activities, a creative movement element that encourages imagination and self-expression, and age-appropriate choreography.
As students progress, technique-based classes generally follow a structured format that includes a warm-up, stretching and conditioning, technical instruction, across-the-floor progressions, and choreography. Some styles, such as ballet, follow a traditional class structure that naturally builds technique through barre work, center practice, and across-the-floor combinations, while other styles are structured in ways that best support their individual techniques and movement vocabulary.
Musical Theatre classes have a more flexible format, blending dance, acting, and vocal instruction to develop well-rounded performers.
While each class has a carefully planned progression, our instructors have the professional autonomy to adjust lessons to best meet the needs of their students. Some classes may spend additional time strengthening a particular skill, preparing for a performance, or focusing on flexibility, conditioning, or artistry. This flexibility allows our teachers to provide the highest quality instruction while ensuring students continue to grow safely and confidently.
Because each class builds upon itself from beginning to end, it is important that students arrive on time and ready to participate. Arriving late can cause students to miss important warm-ups, instruction, and skill progression that are essential to their success and safety.Studio Policies
Inclement Weather
The safety of our students, families, and staff is our highest priority. Decisions regarding weather-related closures are made based on recommendations from the National Weather Service, local conditions, and the safety of travel to and from the studio.
If classes are canceled due to inclement weather, we will notify families through email, text message, and our social media channels as soon as possible.
When possible, make-up classes will be offered as the studio schedule, facility availability, and teacher schedules allow. Because of space limitations and instructor availability, make-up classes cannot be guaranteed for every weather-related closure. No refunds or tuition credits will be issued for classes canceled due to inclement weather.
Please monitor your email, text messages, Facebook, and Instagram for the most up-to-date information regarding weather delays or closures.
Lost Items
Please label all belongings. The studio will not be responsible for lost items. If an item was left, please check the lost and found. All valuables should be taken into the classroom with you. All items in the lost and found will be donated to Goodwill at the end of each month.
Waiting Area & Parking Etiquette
Lobby Expectations
We strive to provide a welcoming, safe, and comfortable environment for all of our families. We ask that everyone help us care for our shared space by following these simple guidelines:
• Children must remain supervised by a parent or guardian at all times when not in class.
• Walking feet only—no running, yelling, chasing, or rough play in the lobby or hallways.
• Please do not stand or climb on chairs, tables, or studio furniture.
• Keep personal belongings neatly stored and out of walkways to help maintain clear and safe traffic flow.
• Be courteous when using cell phones and tablets by keeping volume low and taking phone calls outside when possible.
• Help us keep the studio clean by throwing away trash and cleaning up after yourself before leaving.
• For the safety of our students and families, please do not park or wait at the front entrance. This blocks traffic and creates safety concerns during drop-off and pick-up.

Classroom Policies
Class Discipline
Our goal is to create a positive, respectful, and focused learning environment where every student can succeed. Classroom expectations and behavior are managed by our instructors.
When behavior concerns arise, teachers will generally follow these steps:
• Provide a verbal reminder or warning.
• Ask the student to take a brief break from class.
• Dismiss the student from class if the behavior continues or disrupts the learning environment.
Students who are dismissed from class are not eligible for a make-up class, refund, or tuition credit. If behavior concerns become ongoing or significantly disrupt class, a parent meeting may be required to discuss strategies for helping the student succeed.
Please note that instructors may adjust this process when necessary to address behaviors that compromise the safety or well-being of students or staff.
Tardy Policy
All students are expected in their classroom on time and in the appropriate attire. Classes are designed to warm up muscles slowly and properly. Jumping into a class that has already started may cause injury. If you are tardy, please see the instructor, ask him/her whether you can join the class or need to warm up independently. Please respect your instructor’s decision in this matter.
Class Expectations
To create the best learning environment for every student, we ask that all dancers come to class prepared, focused, and ready to learn.
Students are expected to:
• Arrive on time and ready to participate.
• Bring only the items needed for class. If a dancer does not need to change shoes, there is no need to bring a dance bag into the classroom. Students taking multiple classes should bring one organized dance bag with only the essentials.
• Leave unnecessary bags, personal items, and valuables at home or in the lobby whenever possible.
• Bring water or sports drinks only in a spill-proof water bottle. Sugary drinks, energy drinks, and food are not permitted in the classroom unless approved by the instructor.
• Silence all cell phones before class. Phones must be placed in the classroom phone holder with the screen facing away from the room and should not be used during class unless directed by the instructor.
• Follow the studio dress code, including proper dance attire, shoes, and hairstyle for each class.
• Show respect to instructors, fellow students, and the classroom environment at all times.
• Listen carefully, follow directions, and adhere to all classroom expectations established by the instructor.
These expectations help minimize distractions, maximize instruction time, and create a safe, respectful, and productive environment where every dancer can succeed.
Sickness and Absences
To help keep our students, families, and staff healthy, we ask that anyone who is ill remain at home.
Please do not attend the studio if your student
• A fever of 100.4°F or higher within the past 24 hours
• Vomiting or diarrhea within the past 24 hours
• Persistent cough, excessive sneezing, or significant cold symptoms
• Green or yellow nasal discharge
• Pink eye, head lice, or another contagious illness
Students must be fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication and free of contagious symptoms before returning to class.
If a student becomes ill during class, they will be separated from other students when possible, and a parent or guardian will be contacted for immediate pick-up.
For the health and safety of everyone at PPAC, Peacock's Performing Arts Center reserves the right to ask any student, parent, guardian, or sibling who is exhibiting signs of illness to leave the facility.
Absences & Make-Up Classes
Regular attendance is essential to a student's progress, as skills and choreography build from week to week. We understand that illnesses and unavoidable conflicts happen and offer the following make-up options when possible.
Dance Classes
Students may attend a make-up class in the same or a lower level, provided space is available. Please contact the office before attending a make-up class to ensure appropriate placement and availability.
Students with excessive absences may be required to schedule private lessons to learn missed material and prepare for performances. If private lessons become necessary, families will be notified in advance, and lesson fees will be paid directly to the instructor.
Music Lessons
Music lesson make-ups are scheduled at the discretion of the instructor. Families should contact their teacher directly to discuss available options
Tuition and Unenrollment
Tuition & Payments
Tuition is due on the 1st of each month. Families enrolled in AutoPay will have tuition automatically drafted on the 1st.
Tuition not received by the 15th of the month will be charged to the card on file and will incur a $10 late fee and a $5 processing fee.
Families who choose not to keep a card on file are required to prepay May tuition at the time of registration.
If your account falls behind, we ask that you schedule a meeting with the studio owners to discuss a payment plan. Students with accounts that become two months past due will not be permitted to attend classes until the balance is brought current.
Continued late or missed payments may result in dismissal from the program. Families remain responsible for all tuition, fees, and charges incurred prior to the date of withdrawal or dismissal.
All tuition and studio fees must be paid in full before students may participate in dress rehearsal, performances, or recital activities.
Withdrawal Policy
If you choose to withdraw from Peacock's Performing Arts Center, written notice must be submitted to the studio owners.
Tuition will continue for 30 days from the date written notice is received, regardless of class attendance.
Students who withdraw on or before November 15 will receive a refund of any paid costume and production fees. Costume and production fees become non-refundable after November 15, as costume orders and recital preparations will have begun.
Any outstanding tuition or fees remain the responsibility of the account holder and must be paid in full.

Dress Rehearsal and Recital
Dress Rehearsal is scheduled the Saturday prior to the recital (pending facility availability) and is designed to help the dancer/musician understand the expectations for the performance. This helps the student get his/her bearings on stage, develop a level of comfort in front of an audience and allows teachers to set and finalize blocking.
Dress rehearsal is mandatory for every performer. You will have a scheduled arrival and performance time. Parents are allowed to watch during the rehearsal. After your student has performed, they will need to be signed out by the parent or guardian who brought the student. Parents/guardians will not be allowed backstage.
Performance for the end of the year showcase will be the Saturday before Houston County School System graduation. Students will be asked to arrive an hour and a half before the performance in costume. A parent or guardian will need to sign in student(s) at drop off. Students will stay backstage during the entire performance. Once the performance has been completed, parents/guardians will need to sign their student(s) out for dismissal. Parents/guardians will not be allowed backstage. Tuition must be paid in full in order for students to participate in the recital.
Recital Preparation
We conclude each season with our Annual Performance Showcase, a celebration of our students' hard work and accomplishments throughout the year. Dance students perform routines choreographed using the skills and techniques they have developed in class, Musical Theatre students present scenes and musical numbers they have rehearsed throughout the season, music students have the opportunity to perform pieces they have prepared during their lessons, and art students display their artwork in the recital lobby and are recognized on stage during the performance.
Preparation for the showcase begins in January. Once a student has committed to participating, regular attendance is essential. In dance and Musical Theatre classes, consistent attendance is vital to learning choreography, staging, music, and performance skills while building confidence and teamwork with classmates. Only a portion of each class is devoted to showcase preparation, with the remainder focused on continued skill development and curriculum. Students who choose not to participate in the showcase are still encouraged to attend class regularly, as new material will continue to be introduced throughout the season. They will also learn the showcase material alongside their classmates, as learning choreography, blocking, and performance techniques is an important part of their artistic education.
Private music students use lesson time to prepare and refine their performance pieces, building the confidence and performance skills needed for the stage. Art students spend the season creating pieces that will be featured in the recital lobby gallery and celebrated during the showcase.
While participation in the Annual Performance Showcase is not required, we believe performing for family and friends is one of the most rewarding parts of the performing arts experience. It provides students with valuable stage experience while fostering confidence, creativity, and a lasting sense of accomplishment.
If your student will not be participating in the Annual Performance Showcase, please notify both the instructor and the studio office in writing no later than November 15th.
Private Music Policies
Private music lessons are a wonderful way for students to develop their musical skills, build confidence, and foster a lifelong love of music. At Peacock's Performing Arts Center, we offer private instruction for students ages 6 and up in a supportive, encouraging environment.
Each student is matched with one of our qualified instructors for individualized, one-on-one lessons. Lessons are scheduled with the studio office, confirmed by instructor and held at the same agreed-upon day and time each week.
Throughout the season, students have the opportunity to showcase their progress during two optional performances, our Winter Music Showcase in December and our Annual Performance Showcase in May.
Student Expectations
To ensure each lesson is productive, students are expected to:
• Arrive on time and prepared with all required lesson materials (music, books, assignment notebook, instrument, etc.).
• Practice regularly between lessons to reinforce the skills and assignments given by their instructor.
• Silence all cell phones and electronic devices during lessons.
• Show respect for their instructor, fellow students, and studio facilities.
Please note that lessons begin and end at their scheduled times. Students who arrive late will receive the remainder of their scheduled lesson, as instructors cannot extend lessons into another student's time.
Missed Lessons
If a student must miss a lesson, the instructor must be notified at least 24 hours in advance to be eligible for a makeup lesson. Makeup lessons are subject to instructor availability.
Lessons missed without 24-hour notice are not eligible for a makeup lesson. Any lesson canceled by the instructor will be rescheduled.
Tuition
Music lesson tuition is divided into 10 equal monthly payments based on the annual studio calendar. As a result, the monthly tuition amount remains the same regardless of the number of lessons in a particular month. Any billing questions or account adjustments should be directed to the studio office.
