Ballet Exam Waiver — For Primary through Level 9 Ballet Students Only
This waiver applies only to students enrolled in the following ballet levels: Primary, Grade 1, Grade 2, Grade 3, Grade 4, Level 5/6, Level 7, Level 8, or Level 9.

If you are not currently enrolled in one of these ballet levels, this waiver does not apply to you. You may simply click “Accept” and move on without reading further. However, if you think you may pursue ballet at these levels in the future, we encourage you to read the following information.

Excelsior School of Dance is proud to incorporate the American Ballet Theatre (ABT) National Training Curriculum, an innovative eight-level program that combines artistic excellence with dancer health and child development. The ABT Curriculum is age-appropriate, outcome-based, and designed to deliver the highest quality ballet training to dancers of all levels.

At ESD, we offer 12 levels of ballet training—from our 3-Year-Old classes through Level 9—and we are proud to be the only school in the country offering S.C.B. Level 9 classes.

Pre-Exam Classes & Ballet Exams
To help students prepare for ballet exams, we offer a Saturday Pre-Exam Class in April (sometimes it falls in the month of March). This additional class provides focused instruction and have led to an average 80% improvement in exam performance.

After completing the required Saturday Pre-Exam Classes, students will be evaluated by a professional examiner, usually on a Saturday in early April. These exams involve performing elements of the learned syllabus and are a requirement for promotion to the next ballet level.

Exam Eligibility Requirements: To be eligible for a ballet exam, students must:
- Maintain regular attendance in weekly classes (Maximum of 3–4 absences per semester)
- Make up any missed classes within the same month (Contact Ashley via email or text for help scheduling your make-up class)
- Attend the Saturday Pre-Exam Class

Exams are a highlight of the year at Excelsior! They offer a meaningful goal for students, encouraging discipline, confidence, and artistic growth. Teachers work closely with each child to prepare them thoroughly and lovingly.

We welcome parents to bring flowers and cameras to celebrate this wonderful achievement. It is truly a moment to cherish!

We use text messaging as a main form of quick communication. If you prefer to not be contacted via text message then please contact Ashley ASAP at excelsiorschoolofdance@gmail.com so that we can mark your contact as email only. In addition, you may also edit your contact information and deselect "allow texting" for specific numbers. 

Our yearly tuition, as well as our payment schedule, are both set by adding up the dancing weeks and dividing it into 10 equal monthly payments due on the 1st of each month - August through May. A late fee of $10.00 ($11.00 with card) is automatically applied on the 11th. Please keep in mind that some months have 5 weeks, and some 2 weeks but monthly tuition stays the same as explained above. (Fees are also set based on our Cash or Check discount).

Unless special circumstances arise, if a full month or more is missed your full monthly tuition is still due, (as tuition is for the year’s course).  Missed classes can be made up during the semester by emailing the school.

Withdraw Policy: 1 month written notice (via “Class Change Form”) is required. See form for fees and details.

To Add, Change, or Drop a Class(es): Please fill out a “Change Request Form” and turn it into the Tuition Box along with $10.00 fee per class.

Attendance and Production Volunteers:

Each June, students at Excelsior School of Dance have the unique opportunity to perform in a full theatrical ballet production, with the professional ballet company Ballet Excelsior of Houston!  The entire school participates in sharing a message of hope while demonstrating the dance skills they have learned and practiced throughout the year.

IMPORTANCE of April & May: These are our Pre-Concert months. You will have your In Class Dress Rehearsal (ICDR), where you will receive your costume and talk about important theatre details!  Students need to be able to practice their dances in the group they are dancing with (spacing is very important - therefore attendance is very important).  Missed classes will reduce the students ease and confidence on stage, and missed classes effects the other students trying to rehearse with vacant spots in the formation. So we kindly ask that you do not plan any family holidays during these crucial 2 months.

Parent volunteers are needed for each concert.  Each parent will be contacted closer to the concert date with volunteer positions. We have two show times, each parent will volunteer the show opposite of their students performance so that everyone gets the chance to watch their own child perform.
