PROGRAM POLICIES
- NSDT reserves the right to close or cancel any program that does not meet minimum enrollment requirements to cover expenditures. In such cases, refunds or credits will be issued as outlined in our refund policy. The $15 convenience fee charged at time of registration is non-refundable.
- Class age groupings are guidelines; NSDT may place participants in casts / scenes / musical numbers at the NSDT Production Team’s discretion.
- NSDT may provide substitute coaches when regularly scheduled coaches are absent.
- Program capacity is limited.
PARENT / GUARDIAN & VISITOR POLICIES
- All rehearsals are closed to parents, guardians, and visitors unless explicitly invited. This supports focus, safety, and a consistent learning environment, and is in place to protect the comfort and emotional safety of all the children in our program. Parents / guardians may request access in writing if needed for medical, accessibility, or behavioral support purposes.
- NSDT will not share student or parent / guardian contact information with other families without explicit written consent from the parent / guardian.
- Parents / guardians may not approach, correct, discipline, or instruct any child other than their own. The only exception is if another parent / guardian has provided advance, written permission for pickup, supervision, or play-date arrangements.
- Parents / guardians should not speak directly to other performers about—or during—moments of conflict should they arise. Any and all issues between our participants should be brought immediately to the NSDT Production Team’s attention to be addressed. Parents / guardians will then be brought into the dynamic as appropriate and at the NSDT Production Team’s discretion.
- If parents / guardians are found to be harassing, mistreating, or abusing NSDT team members or volunteers, NSDT reserves the right to restrict future participation in our programs.
IN-PERSON & VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING
- All programs will meet in-person unless restricted by local or state guidelines.
- Masks may be recommended or required based on local / state, NSDT, or GUMC guidelines / restrictions / recommendations.
- If in-person programming becomes prohibited, classes will shift to virtual instruction via Zoom or another web-based platform.
- A device capable of running the platform (such as a phone, tablet, or computer) is required; class links will be provided via email.
- NSDT is not responsible for connectivity issues, outages, or software malfunctions.
PHYSICAL INTERACTION, SAFETY, & CONSENT
Certain aspects of performing arts require physical proximity or interaction. By enrolling, you acknowledge and consent to the following:
- Coaches may need to physically adjust or assist participants to ensure safety and proper technique (e.g., dance positions, staging, choreography).
- Participants may need to interact with one another physically as part of choreography, blocking, scene work, or theatrical exercises.
- Our Production Team may need to assist with costumes, microphones, quick-changes, props, and other production elements.
- All physical interactions will be appropriate, professional, and focused on safety, instruction, or production needs.
- We encourage participants to express if they feel uncomfortable; consent, communication, and respect for boundaries are prioritized at all times.
Parents / guardians acknowledge and consent on behalf of their child to the necessary physical interactions described above.

NSDT requires written permission for any participant who will:

- Cancellations will be accepted through 8/14/2026 with a $25 administrative processing fee. The $15 convenience fee is non-refundable.

- If the program is cancelled due to low enrollment or at NSDT’s discretion, everyone will receive a full refund minus the $15 non-refundable convenience fee.
- If in-person programming shifts to virtual due to local / state guidelines, rehearsals will be held virtually. If this shift occurs before the first rehearsal and you wish to withdraw, a partial refund of 50% (minus the $15 non-refundable convenience fee) will be granted if your cancellation request is submitted via email within 48 hours of initial notice of the change in format.

EQUAL OPPORTUNITY STATEMENT
North Shore Dance & Theater (NSDT) provides educational programs and opportunities without discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion or creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
GENDER EXPRESSION & INCLUSIVE CASTING
Casting decisions are based on auditions, demonstrated readiness, production goals, and what will best support both individual performers and the production as a whole. NSDT does not pre-assign roles, guarantee speaking or named parts, or base casting decisions on seniority, prior participation, or previous roles. Casting decisions are made at the discretion of the NSDT Production Team in accordance with the artistic and educational needs of each production.
Many of our productions are licensed through Music Theatre International (MTI) and other licensing agencies. As part of these licensing agreements, certain characters may be designated as gender-flexible, allowing approved changes to a character’s name, pronouns, costuming, and presentation to align with the gender identity of the performer.
If a performer would feel more comfortable portraying their role in a way that aligns with their gender identity, they (or their parent / guardian) are encouraged to notify the NSDT Production Team as early as possible and before the costuming deadline of 9/26/2026. When permitted by the licensing agreement, we are committed to working with performers and their families to make appropriate accommodations so every participant feels welcomed, respected, and supported throughout the production process.
Please note that all casting decisions and character modifications must comply with the requirements and guidelines established by the applicable licensing agency. In situations where a role is designated as gender-specific, NSDT is required to follow the licensing requirements for that character.
