At The Central Ohio Youth Ballet, we value all our students and hope they come to dance with a willingness to learn and have fun.
We ask our students to respect one another, their class teachers and helpers.
We want members of the school, their parents and teachers to work well together. In that manner, we expect pupils to:
• Support the learning of others
• Be considerate and listen to others
• Look after and take care of school property
• Be polite to all members of the dance school community
• Be actively engaged in all lessons
• Follow the COYB dress code
• Embrace individuality and accept cultural and religious beliefs
• Show kindness through words and actions
• Accepting mistakes and consequences (being the best version of yourself)
• Keep mobile phones and other electrical devices away for the full length of the class
Actions that are against our behavior policy include the following:
Class behavior that violates our behavior include being disruptive in classes or in the waiting areas before and after classes, having a poor attitude in class, being disrespectful to any staff members, parents, guest teachers or class helpers, not following instructions given by a staff member, purposefully leaving some dancers out of an on-site activity.
Being verbally aggressive towards another student or staff member and using inappropriate language and tone will be considered a violation of this policy.
Online harassment (including on social media), such as unkind comments and messages (if you’re not sure, don’t post it), sharing of images and/or videos without consent are not acceptable at, or in connection with, COYB.
Bullying is defined as the repetitive, intentional harming of one person or group by another person or group. The harming may be emotional, i.e being unfriendly, excluding, tormenting or physical, including blocking another’s ability to walk away, taking another’s belongings, or any use of violence. Any bullying is a violation of this policy
Any reports of unacceptable behavior from students or parents will be investigated, and we will implement particular consequences where necessary. Such consequences will ultimately be at the discretion of the staff or board, depending on the severity of the issue.
