Policies and Procedures
Registration: A non-refundable fee of $50 per student or $80 per family is required yearly every August
Payment of Fees: Tuition must be paid by automatic debit or credit card payment. Tuition will be charged to your card on the 1st day of each month from August-July. The month of August is non-refundable. Payments are not accepted for in-person payment on a monthly basis. Payment must be made by pre-authorized automatic monthly payment. All charges will appear on your credit card as being from Distrct Arts.
NSF Payments I hereby authorize the school to electronically debit my bank account for the amount of any NSF paper check or auto-debit transactions plus a $20 NSF fee.
Uniform and Costume Fees: A costume rental fee for the Holiday Showcase will be charged to your auto-debit or auto-credit card account on October 15th. Costume fees for the year-end recital will be charged to your auto-debit or auto-credit card account on February 15th. No costume fees will be refunded after these dates even if a student withdraws from the school. Costumes for competitive classes may require and additional fee depending on the cost of the costume.
Withdrawal From Classes: There is a two-month minimum for all lessons. One-month (30 day) notice from the first of the month is required to discontinue any classes. Withdrawal must be a written notice in person or email and will not be accepted over the phone. Withdrawal must be done at the studio office and not with the teacher. To withdraw from classes a parent or adult student must:
1. In form school administration in person, and
2. Complete and sign a withdrawal form provided by the school office. All automatic bank debiting or credit card charges will stop after to one-month notice notice from the first of the month period. DISTRCT ARTS reserves the right to terminate lessons to any students without notice. In such case a refund for unused lessons will be given.
Extreme Weather or Unexpected Interruption of Classes: If the school must cancel classes due to extreme weather or events beyond our control such as power outages, the missed lessons will not be made up.
Substitutions: The school reserves the right to provide a substitute teacher if the regularly scheduled teacher is ill or otherwise unable to teach class. If a teacher is ill and the school cannot arrange a substitute any missed classes will be made up.
Dance Dress code: Required dancewear and dance shoes must be worn to all classes. Failure to wear required dancewear to class could result in students being asked to sit out of the class. Repeated failure to wear required dancewear could result in termination of lessons. Students are not permitted to wear jeans or shoes worn on the street or outdoors, to any dance class. For safety reasons dancers are not permitted to wear jewelry. Long hair must be tied back.
Missed Private Lessons and Make-up Lessons: Absolutely no make-up lessons will be given for missed lessons in group classes. Private lessons may be rescheduled only if 24 hours notice was given. If less than 24 hours notice was given for a private lesson then the lesson may not be made up or rescheduled.
Dance Class Attendance and Lateness: The school reserves the right to have students who come late to class, sit out of class. Repeated lateness may result in termination of lessons. A minimum attendance level will be required. If a student misses more than 4 classes without written notices, the school reserves the right to terminate lessons. Students missing more than 4 classes after April 1st will not be allowed to participate in the year-end dance recital, festivals, or competitions.
Parent’s Responsibility to be Aware of Dates and Events: It is the responsibility of the parent or adult student to be aware of all school activities, such as viewing days, recitals, extra classes, and dates the school is open or closed. The school will post all events and it is the parents’ responsibility to regularly check these boards and e-mails to ensure they are informed. It is the responsibility of the parents or adult students to inform the school of any address, e-mail, or telephone number change. ***Make sure to add info@distrctdance to your contact lists in your email so that our emails do not go to your spam or junk folders.
Care of Students: The school is not responsible for providing before or after class care for students. Parents with students under the age of 5 should remain in the school during class. Students are not to be left at the school for excessive time before or after class. Please make sure to pick up your child(ren) before the studio closes.
Injuries: Parents, legal guardians of minor students and adult students waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained on school properly resulting from normal dance activity conducted by the students before, during, or after class time.
Photo release: The school is hereby granted permission to take photographs of the students to use in brochures, web sites, posters, advertisements, and other promotional materials the school creates. Permission is also hereby granted for the school to copyright such photographs in its name.
Acknowledgment & Assumption of Risk
I understand that dance, acrobatics/acro, conditioning, and related activities (the “Activities”) involve inherent risks, including but not limited to slips, trips, falls, overexertion, collision with persons or objects, sprains/strains, fractures, and other serious injury or illness. I (or my child) voluntarily choose to participate and expressly assume all risks, known and unknown, arising from participation, use of the premises, and travel to/from Activities, whether caused by my (or my child’s) actions, inactions, the actions of others, facility conditions, or ordinary negligence of the Studio.
Health & Fitness Representation
I certify that I (or my child) am physically fit to participate and have disclosed any relevant medical conditions, allergies, or limitations. I understand the Studio is not a medical provider and does not provide medical advice. I agree not to participate if experiencing illness, fever, open wounds, contagious conditions, or if a healthcare provider has advised against participation.
Release of Liability; Indemnification
To the fullest extent permitted by law, I, on behalf of myself (and if applicable, my minor child), hereby release, waive, and discharge the Studio, its owners, officers, managers, employees, contractors, volunteers, landlords, and agents from any and all claims, demands, damages, costs, or causes of action of any kind (“Claims”) arising out of or related to participation in the Activities or presence on the premises, including Claims arising from the ordinary negligence of the Released Parties.
I further agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Released Parties from and against any Claims (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) brought by or on behalf of me, my child, or any third party arising from my (or my child’s) participation or violation of Studio policies.
Medical Care Authorization
In the event of injury or illness, I authorize the Studio to administer basic first aid and to secure emergency medical treatment deemed necessary. I understand I am responsible for all related costs and that the Studio is not responsible for the quality or outcome of such care. I agree that the Studio may share necessary health information with emergency personnel.
Communicable Disease Notice
I understand participation may expose me (or my child) to contagious illnesses (e.g., colds, flu, COVID-19, RSV). I agree to follow Studio health/safety rules, including staying home when symptomatic, complying with hygiene protocols, and reporting known exposures as requested. I assume all related risks.
