Welcome Students & Parents!
Expectations of Dancers: Dancers/Students are expected to arrive at least 10 min. prior to scheduled class, dressed (children in; black top, black skirt & shoes; adults; dance skirt/shoes), hair must be pulled back and not loose (no exceptions), warmed up and ready to work!
In addition, prompt attendance is required for students performing in the recital. Etiquette: each student is expected to respect one another, not invade personal space, & not use abusive language in the studio. There are various events and fundraisers that occur as part of our studio year-round, and we expect each of our students to do their part to make them successful.
Tardiness: When late for class, DO NOT CROSS IN FRONT OF THE INSTRUCTOR OR THE STUDENTS after class has started and the teacher is instructing. Please wait for the instructor’s permission, enter class quietly, and warm up along the side, then join the class (walking behind the students). Also, as a form of respect for the instructor, when you’re in formation, do not move from your place and cross in front of the instructor while she is talking. Wait till she is finished and notify her of your reason for moving.
Dancer’s Parents/Guests: Those waiting on students during class are expected to remain quiet during class. If you have small children waiting with you in the lobby…Please keep them quiet as to not disturb the class in session. ABSOLUTELY NO FOOD IN THE STUDIO. Any food or trash in the waiting room must be disposed of in the trash bin and spills or mess must be cleaned up.
Studio Cleanliness: Each student and parent are expected to do his or her part in keeping the studio clean. For example, the floor is not a trash bin, nor is the dressing room a ‘clothes hamper’. Please be responsible for your trash and personal items. Personal items will be disposed of if repeatedly left at the studio. NO GUM IS ALLOWED ON THE STUDIO PREMISES REGARDLESS OF CLASS IN SESSION OR NOT, AND NO FOOD IS ALLOWED IN THE DRESSING ROOM. NO EXCEPTIONS!
Studio liabilities: The studio is not responsible for lost/stolen items, if you have valuable items, bring them into the studio and set it on stage during class. The studio is not responsible for injuries or accidents that may occur within the studio or in the parking lot.
Class Cancellations: If the studio cancels the class (not to include inclement weather), there will be a make-up class that will be scheduled by Chiqui. Refunds are not issued for cancelled or missed classes unless there are special circumstances.
Private lessons: available on a case-by-case basis (additional charges apply) and are encouraged for those that need extra instruction or choreography.
Communication: Announcements are made during class and/or through email, GroupMe messaging and text. Please check your email or messages regularly for updates on any upcoming events, fundraisers or class changes. Our email is: clasesderaicesdearteespanol@gmail.com.
Recital participation (optional): ALL students are encouraged to perform and display the technique and choreography they have learned throughout the year. Student discipline and regular year-round attendance are required for those students that want to perform in the recital. Participation in the recital is optional, but it requires time (fundraiser participation/attendance), practice (year-round & MANDATORY recital practice attendance), and financial commitments (costumes, recital fees). Costumes: these are designed by Mrs. Linares, and to be made by the costume maker of her choice and are to be purchased individually by each student. Please consider this if you want to participate in the recital. Recital Practices: if you choose to participate in the recital, it is mandatory to show up for all recital practices which are normally two weeks prior to recital date and can be long. This is why this is an optional event and does require commitment and time on your part to make the event a success. Therefore, it is imperative that you make appropriate arrangements for childcare, scheduling and any other arrangements. Hope this is helpful.
