ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF NON-LIABILITY:
I am becoming a member of the Society for the Homeschool Network of Edmonton with the full understanding that SHiNE is a non-profit society, registered under the Societies Act of the Province of Alberta. Accordingly, I understand that as provided by the Societies Act of the Province of Alberta, all members of SHiNE are immune from personal liability in relation to all activities and events related to the Society. I undertake that neither myself, my heirs, family members or any other relatives will hold SHiNE, or any of its members, including executive members, liable for any adverse outcome to me, to my family, or any person who attends any SHiNE function, field trip, event or program with me or on my behalf, such as accidental injury, accidental death, or loss of property, occurring in the course of my or my family’s participation in SHiNE related activities or events.
EVENT ATTENDANCE POLICIES & PROCEDURES:
Parents are responsible for the safety and behaviour of their children at all times. SHiNE is not equipped or licensed to accommodate drop off programming. Parents are required to be on site at all times during all programs. At no time will SHiNE assume responsibility for child care. Individual members may choose to enter into private child care agreements, and assume guardianship for children whose parents are not in attendance. This is the standard policy for all events unless explicitly stated otherwise. Any exception to this requires you to read and sign documents.
SHiNE Members shall be treated with respect regardless of age, race, creed, religious affiliation, gender, sexual orientation, philosophy, political affiliation, family size, income, teaching strategies, instructional methods, learning styles, resource choices, and/or mental or physical disability.
CODE OF CONDUCT:
SHiNE Members are encouraged to conduct themselves in a manner that promotes a positive image of SHiNE and homeschooling in the community.
SHiNE Members are required to become familiar with and to follow all SHiNE Policies and Procedures and ByLaws.
SHiNE Members are encouraged to show initiative, become active members in the community and volunteer at the programs.
SHiNE Members should refrain from using SHiNE to benefit personal finances and making special requests.
SHiNE Members should bring their concerns to the Board of Directors through email should they arise and expect resolution within reasonable time.
SHiNE members are encouraged to review programs and events they are attending.
SHiNE members may be expelled or suspended by ⅔ of the vote majority vote of the Board of Directors for the behavior that that is likely to bring discredit to SHiNE and/or slander towards SHiNE at their sole discretion, for violating ByLaws, Policies and Procedures, Code of Conduct.
