The Broadway Originals Studio Waiver & Policies Agreement
By enrolling a student in classes, rehearsals, productions, camps, or other activities at The Broadway Originals (“TBO”), the parent or legal guardian acknowledges and agrees to the following policies.
PARTICIPATION & ASSUMPTION OF RISK
Dance, theatre, movement, and performance activities involve physical exertion and carry an inherent risk of injury. Parents and guardians acknowledge these risks and authorize their student to participate. Families should inform TBO in writing of any injury, medical condition, allergy, physical limitation, or accommodation that may affect participation. In an emergency, TBO may contact emergency services and the student’s listed emergency contacts.
ATTENDANCE & MAKE-UP CLASSES
Students should arrive on time and attend consistently. If a student misses a weekly class, the family may request a make-up class within four weeks of the missed class, subject to availability and class suitability. Make-up classes are not guaranteed, and no refunds or account credits are issued for missed classes.
Four or more unexcused absences may result in removal from a class, rehearsal, performance number, or production at the director’s discretion. Excessive absences—especially near rehearsals, tech, or performances—may affect casting or participation.
CLASS WITHDRAWAL, TUITION & REFUNDS
A minimum of four weeks’ written notice sent by email to the Studio Director is required to withdraw from a weekly class. Tuition remains due during the four-week notice period. Registration fees, tuition already charged, production fees, costume fees, ticket fees, and credit-card processing fees are nonrefundable unless TBO states otherwise in writing.
COMMUNICATION & CONCERN-RESOLUTION POLICY
Questions, concerns, complaints, or scheduling issues must be submitted in writing by email to the Studio Director, Angel Reed. Except for an urgent health or safety concern, families are asked to wait at least 24 hours after an incident, class, rehearsal, casting decision, or performance before contacting the studio so that concerns can be communicated calmly and constructively.
Parents and guardians may not interrupt a class or rehearsal or approach an instructor immediately before or after class to discuss a complaint, correction, casting decision, another student, or other sensitive matter. Teachers must be able to supervise students, dismiss classes safely, and prepare for their next class. The Studio Director will review the written concern and arrange a phone call or meeting when appropriate.
All communication with TBO staff, students, and families must remain respectful, appropriate, and solution-focused. Harassment, threats, abusive language, repeated disruptive conduct, or hostile communication may result in limits on communication, removal from the premises, or dismissal from the program. Urgent student-safety matters should be reported immediately and are not subject to the 24-hour waiting period.
CONDUCT & COMMUNITY STANDARDS
Students and families are expected to treat TBO staff, students, volunteers, venues, and other families with kindness and respect. Bullying, harassment, discrimination, intimidation, unsafe conduct, or deliberate disruption is not permitted. Concerns involving another student or family must be directed privately to the Studio Director and may not be addressed directly with the child involved.
DRESS CODE & PERSONAL BELONGINGS
Students must wear appropriate attire and footwear for each class. Hair should be secured away from the face, and jewelry or clothing that creates a safety concern should not be worn. TBO is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal belongings.
MEDIA CONSENT
TBO may photograph or record classes, rehearsals, productions, and performances for educational, archival, website, social-media, and promotional use. A parent or legal guardian who does not consent to the use of their student’s image must notify the Studio Director in writing so that the student’s account can be marked accordingly.
