Eccentric Divine Dance Co. 2024–2025 Code of Conduct
PURPOSE:
The purpose of Eccentric Divine Dance Co. is to provide children and youth with the opportunity to participate in structured dance programs that promote relationships, sportsmanship, leadership, discipline, and character development. Membership in Eccentric Divine Dance Co. is a privilege, not a right. As a dancer, you represent yourself, your team, your coaches, and the entire organization. You are expected to carry yourself with integrity and excellence both in and outside of the studio.
All dancers must consistently demonstrate dedication, determination, discipline, and the desire to be a part of this company. This Code of Conduct outlines the expectations for all dancers, parents, and guardians. It must be followed at all times — during practices, performances, events, and within the community.
---
CONDUCT RULES:
BE RESPECTFUL AND APPROPRIATE. Every member of the company is expected to treat others with respect at all times. This includes teammates, instructors, volunteers, parents, and staff. Inappropriate, rude, or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated and may result in disciplinary action.
Any behavior that contradicts the values of Eccentric Divine Dance Co. at any time (practice, performance, rehearsal, etc.) is grounds for dismissal from the team.
---
PRACTICE ETIQUETTE & BEHAVIOR:
One verbal warning will be given for disruptive or inappropriate behavior.
Continued disruption will result in the dancer being removed from practice immediately.
Dancers must arrive on time, be dressed appropriately, and be prepared to participate fully.
No gum, food, or excessive talking during practice.
---
ATTIRE & UNIFORMS:
New dancers must wear a white top and black bottoms to majorette class until their official practice uniform is provided.
Returning dancers must wear the required team uniform to all practices, including appropriate dance shoes. No jeans are allowed.
For all classes (majorette, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, praise, etc.), dancers must arrive in the appropriate attire assigned by their instructor.
Hair must be secured out of the face.
No jewelry is permitted during practice or performance.
Dancers must Face Time or video call their instructors at least one week prior to every performance to confirm outfit, hair, and accessories. Failure to do so may result in being sidelined for the event.
---
CELL PHONE POLICY:
No cell phone use during class or practice. All phones will be collected and stored in a designated space during practice.
If a parent needs to reach their dancer during practice, they must contact the coach directly.
---
DEDICATION & COMMITMENT:
Being part of this company requires consistent attendance, focus, and teamwork.
Your absence affects your entire team. If you do not uphold your responsibilities, you will face suspension or dismissal from the company.
---
PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT:
Parents must communicate respectfully with staff and other parents.
Disruptive behavior, gossiping, or causing conflict will not be tolerated.
Please step away from doors and windows when speaking outside the studio, as sound travels easily.
Attendance at all scheduled parent meetings is mandatory before performances or major events.
No refunds will be given for any reason (missed classes, suspension, withdrawal, etc.).
Parents who fail to attend required meetings will forfeit their dancer’s participation in the associated performance or event.
---
LEADERSHIP EXPECTATIONS (FOR RETURNING DANCERS):
Returning dancers are expected to model excellence, follow all rules, and support teammates.
They will be held to a higher standard. Repeated failure to demonstrate leadership will result in suspension or removal.
---
FUNDRAISING:
Fundraising is mandatory and vital to keeping participation affordable.
Lack of participation in fundraisers means your dancer will not receive uniform assistance.
---
PERFORMANCE GUIDELINES:
Performance schedules will include both arrival and performance times.
Dancers must arrive on time, fully dressed, with hair styled and accessories in place.
Parents are responsible for makeup unless directed otherwise by coaches.
If a dancer misses final rehearsals or cannot perform the routine to standard, they will not perform.
---
ATTENDANCE:
Excused absences include:
1. Personal illness (must be reported immediately).
2. Death in the family.
3. Special school activity (with prior approval).
4. Family vacation (with prior written notice).
Important Notes:
Excused absences may still affect performance eligibility.
Dancers must attend all mandatory practices leading up to a performance in order to perform.
Missing the final two practices before a performance results in automatic ineligibility.
If absent, the dancer is responsible for learning all missed choreography before the next practice.
Practice time will not be used to catch up dancers who miss class.
---
NON-PERFORMER POLICY:
You will not be allowed to perform if you:
Do not know the routine.
Cannot meet the required skill level.
Display poor attitude or lack of sportsmanship.
Are not performance-ready (hair, uniform, makeup).
Fail to attend parent meetings.
Are suspended, on probation, or injured without doctor’s clearance.
Miss practice(s) the week of a performance.
Disrupt the team with gossip or drama.
All dancers are required to attend performances and support the team — even if they are not performing.
---
DUAL PARTICIPATION:
If a dancer participates in another sport or activity during dance season:
Coaches must be notified.
A written agreement must be reached between both coaches, parents, and dancer.
If conflicts are not resolved, suspension from the company may occur.
No exceptions will be made when preparing for major events or performances.
---
DISCIPLINARY ACTION:
Violations of the Code of Conduct may result in:
Verbal warning
Sitting out of practice or performance
Suspension or probation
Removal from the company
---
FINANCIAL POLICY:
Monthly payments must be submitted through the official website or other approved methods.
If payment is not received by the 5th of the month, a $15 late fee will be applied, and the dancer will not be allowed to return until the balance is cleared.
A $15 late pickup fee will be charged if a dancer is picked up more than 15 minutes after the end of class. No exceptions.
---
BOTTOM LINE:
If a dancer:
Attends class consistently
Dresses appropriately
Participates with a positive attitude
Demonstrates effort and skill growth
They will have the opportunity to perform and thrive as a member of Eccentric Divine Dance Co.
