I release the FORRESTER SCHOOL OF DANCE and its teachers from liability in case of accident or injury that may occur while attending classes at the FORRESTER SCHOOL OF DANCE and their locations.

COSTUMES FOR PERFORMANCES AND EVENTS:

Costumes will be required for the year-end recital for all dancers as well as Highland dance exams and festival work for those participating in these events. We will advise when it’s time to purchase and many can be purchased from us in our on-site boutique or through some of the social media/website links below. There are many great second-hand Highland Dance costume sites online, just be sure to let us know what you may be purchasing for your child so as to ensure costumes meet the proper requirements and are of good value. Students with costumes may be asked or invited to attend/perform at local events. Participation is voluntary but provides valuable experience for students. DRESS CODE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS - NEW STUDENTS:

To start, all new students enrolled in one of our introductory sessions / and or workshops are only required to dress comfortably with items you already have. There is no need to acquire anything in the beginning. Students may wish to wear a body suit if you have one, or shorts and t-shirts, leggings, etc. You may also wear bare feet, or gymnastic/ballet slippers for the Highland Dance portion and may wear a pair of dress shoes with a flat firm bottom for the Step Dance portion. Please keep dance shoes separate from your street shoes.

After any introductory session / workshop,, if you child is interested in enrolling in regular classes for the remainder of the year, you will be required to adhere to the dress code for dancers (see below):

All returning students are required to have our “official” dance school wear, which may include our t-shirts, tanks, shorts – worn as directed and appropriate for your discipline. For the first couple of weeks back, please do not worry about acquiring tap shoes and slippers as we will have second hand options coming in so hold off purchasing (unless you prefer to purchase brand new). Value Village has also been known to have like new tap shoes for sale every now and then.

- Tiny Tartans Highland: Black short sleeved body suits (Walmart or Gingers), white knee socks, black exercise/gymnastics slippers (highland ghillies come later).
- Junior & Senior Highland Dancers: black spandex shorts, white knee socks and dance school tank or t-shirt, highland ghillies.
- Steppers are required to have black leggings and one of our dance wear tanks or tees. Appropriate hard shoe or tap shoe
- Adults: as appropriate and comfortable for your dance discipline.

Please ensure you have a dance bag containing all necessary class requirements. All dancers with long hair are required to have their hair pulled back in a ponytail or tied off the face during dance class. No jewelry such as necklaces, bracelets, hoop earrings, etc. for safety purposes, especially in dances where partnering is required. Older students are required to have a scribbler for taking notes and theory. Scribblers/binders only. Also, don’t forget your water bottles!

I hereby certify that myself / or my child is in good physical condition and is able to participate fully in this program. All current medical conditions have been outlined on the registration form.

By enrolling my child in dance classes, I give consent for the FORRESTER SCHOOL OF DANCE to use my child’s name and any pictures, videos, and external advertisements that he/she may be in for promotional purposes for the school. This is also applicable to Adult Dancers enrolling in classes.

Refunds - Full Year Classes

A Parent or legal guardian must provide one (1) month’s written notice should your child no longer be continuing in dance class. Non attendance will not be considered as withdrawing and will not qualify for a refund. Classes will be refunded AFTER the one month’s written notice is received.

This same policy applies to all full year Adult Classes.

Private Lessons: Please note, once booked and secured, private lessons are non-refundable should the student need to cancel for whatever reason. These are limited specialty classes offered on a first come first served basis. Students may transfer/sell their time slot to another dancer. Please advise Shannon if another dancer is taking your child's spot.

Refund Policy (Introductory Sessions & Specialty Workshops):

There is a NO REFUND POLICY FOR ANY REASON ON ALL INTRODUCTORY SESSIONS and Specialty Workshops. These classes are offered at a special introductory rate to new students only/or offered as a one time experience.

I agree to abide by the FORRESTER DANCE SCHOOL policies/procedures provided and will adhere to the same.

CODE OF CONDUCT:
To ensure the smooth, safe running of The Forrester School of Dance and in offering a most enjoyable experience to all, below you will find our code of conduct which outlines expectations pertaining to key areas of our operation. As always, we are open to feedback, so if any of the requirements outlined below are unclear, please advise and we can discuss further. Please note, we do reserve the right to refuse classes, performance opportunities, and as a last resort, dismiss a student and dance family for breach our studio’s code of conduct.

• DROPPING OFF/PICKING UP/WASHROOM: Please do not drop your child off any earlier than 5 minutes prior to the start of their class as it can be rather distracting to the dancers in class before your child’s. With limited room in our entrance way, there is no room for parents to gather and wait. That said, we ask that parents of our younger dancers to please walk your child up to the door and have them enter. We will be there to greet them and get them ready for class. This will be the same for pick up times, parents can wait outside the door as we will get your child ready for pick-up. Parents are reminded to ensure their child is picked up and dropped off on time. In the case of an emergency or unavoidable delay, please contact us immediately to inform us of the situation so we can keep your child calm and safe until they can be collected. If you have relatives or sitters taking your child to class, please be sure they are aware of the start and end time of their class. In addition, for younger dancers especially, it is requested that the students use the washroom prior to classes commencing so as not to interrupt the class.

• PARKING: For the safety of our dancers and parents, there’s absolutely no parking at the front of the Forrester Centre to wait or otherwise. Anyone found parking in the front for any reason will be asked to move. It’s very important we know who is on our property at all times when children are present onsite. We have a very large and safe parking lot at the rear of the venue for parents to park. Additionally, please be mindful of your speed when entering and exiting the parking lot.

• STUDIO SPECTATORS: Parents, friends, and non-students, are not permitted to stay during class as spectators when classes are in session as it is too distracting for students and staff.

• FOOD & DRINK: No food or drink is allowed in the dance studio (unless the dancer has a health condition or attending multiple classes in an evening). Only water bottles are permitted. Gum is not allowed.

• LOST & MISPLACED ITEMS: We are not responsible for any lost articles of clothing, dance attire, or any other personal items left behind or misplaced at our studio.

• INTELLECUTAL PROPERTY: Choreography, costuming and studio policies remain the intellectual property of The Forrester School of Dance and may not be reproduced or sold by any students, parents or staff without permission of the director/owner. In addition, on occasion we allow videos to be taken in class of steps and choreography – this is more so with our adult classes. These videos are to be used for personal home practice only and not to be posted on social media or forwarded to any non-students. Please note: should you miss a class when a video is taken of steps and choreography, you are responsible to obtain it from another dancer.

• BEHAVIOUR: Inappropriate and or rude behavior by students/or parents will not be tolerated. We have the basic expectation that students treat each other, their teachers, the faculty and staff, and other adults with kindness and respect. Whether students attend our programs to develop self-esteem, get their exercise, or train for a career in the arts, a professional and polite attitude is necessary at all times. If problems persist, parents will be contacted. Attitude is a little thing that makes a BIG difference!

• CLASS ATTENDANCE: Our student’s attendance in class is very important to their peers and our teaching staff. As a member of the team, it is a commitment for students to attend their classes on time each week and attend all lessons planned for them. Not only do absences impact the routines we create, it also impacts the social and confidence-building principals we work hard to foster in each age group. If you know ahead of time that you will be absent due to holidays/vacations, commitments or school trips, please let us know ahead of time so the class impact is minimal.

• INJURY: If students have an injury, they will be expected to attend, as it is extremely valuable to come to dance class and WATCH! Dancing is learned through visual, auditory and kinesthetic information, so students who watch class still use their eyes and ears to learn dance! By observing classes, they won’t have missed any information or be behind in their learning. If a student misses a class, they are expected to catch up on class material that they missed with friends prior to the next class. Students are responsible for knowing their class material for each class.

• COMMUNICATION/CONTACTING US: Should you need to reach us, please contact us via email .EMAIL ONLY, via the Studio Pro Portal. Additionally, please do not send messages via Facebook messenger, Instagram, any social media platform or engage in a text conversation as we do not utilize those modes for communication. Email only through our portal. We will endeavor to answer your inquiry within the next 48 hours.

Payments for regular dance tuition can be made in full for the year using a Credit Card, via our new Studio Pro app, or E-Transfer (with a discount applied for those paying in full upon registration in September).

Payments can be made in various instalments. Please send your requested method of payment to Shannon. We offer monthly payments, only for those registered in 3 or more classes. These payments are required to be made online, through our new Studio Pro app. Parents MUST register in Auto-Pay for this option. Additionally, we also offer a 4 equal payment option, which can be paid online by credit card, or by e transfer to shannon@forresterdancers.com.

Classes are billed according the amount of classes/hours your dancer is enrolled for the year.

Payments not received by the specified due date will be automatically charged a LATE PAYMENT FEE OF $5.00 per month, billed directly by the system.

All regular tuition payments are to be up to date prior to other fees / classes / merchandise being paid, booked, or purchased.

Please Note: Any dancers with an outstanding balance in their account, as of May 1 2026, will not be eligible to perform in the recital.
