Studio Policy

Welcome to Elevate Movement Dance Academy. We hope you and your dancer have an amazing dance experience at our studio. Please review the following studio policies as they will be strictly upheld by students, parents and staff.

I. General Studio Etiquette:
• Respect: Respecting teachers and fellow dancers is essential for creating a positive and supportive environment. It encourages growth, teamwork, and enjoyment in dance. Respect is expected in the studio by all students, parents, teachers and staff.
• Hygiene: Dancers are expected to promote good hygiene practices, including appropriate attire and deodorant use (when age appropriate).
• Professionalism: Gossip, negative conversations, and disruptive behavior are strictly prohibited among students, parents and staff. This will affect the overall morale of the studio and will not be tolerated.
• Communication: Questions pertaining to the studio, competition team or tuition should be directed to Maurie Jhaveri, Traci Craig, D’Anna Graham, Larissa Bass or Tami Birch. All communication and questions will be done through the BAND app- this is a free app. Please download this to your phone.
II. Class-Specific Rules:
• Promptness: It is important that all dancers arrive 10 minutes prior to class time to prepare for class.
• Attire: All dancers are expected to wear a black leotard or crop top with any color legging or booty short. T-shirt or sweatshirt may be worn during warm up but must be removed for active class time to the instructors to properly assess dancer positioning. Detailed dress code is addressed below.
• Behavior: Dancers are discouraged from talking during class. One verbal warning will be provided before consequences are enforced. The consequences can be running, burpees, pushups and sitting out for observation only. No gum chewing is allowed at any point while at the studio
• Materials: Students can bring water bottles, backpacks and dry foods into the dance studio. All belongings need to be kept in the dancer’s locker room or with a parent in the lobby.
• Cleanliness: Students are required to clean up after themselves and dispose of trash properly. Repeated violation of this policy will result in students not being allowed to bring food/drinks into the studio.
III. Attendance and Tardiness:
• Attendance: Consistent attendance is essential for optimal learning. Students are encouraged to attend weekly classes. Competition team is required to attend at least 75% of their required classes a month. Violation of this policy may result in removal from the team.
• Tardiness: Tardiness affects not only the late dancer but the entire class. If your child is going to be late please let the teacher know. Students that are more than 15 minutes late are not allowed to disrupt class but may sit for observation only for the remainder of the class.
IV. Dress Code:
• Specific Requirements: Black leotard or crop top must be worn for class. Students may wear leggings, tights or booty shorts for their bottoms. Boys must wear a tight black shirt and fitted athletics shorts. No loose or baggy dance attire is permitted. Proper footwear must be worn to include black or tan jazz sole for jazz class, black or nude tap shoe for tap class and pink or nude ballet slipper or half-sole for ballet class.
• Hair: Hair must be pulled back out of the student’s face. For short hair that cannot be pulled back, head band must be worn to avoid hair in the student’s face.
• Jewelry: No hooped or hanging jewelry should be worn to class. This could pose a safety risk or cause distractions.
V. Payment Policies:
• Tuition: Tuition is due on the 1st day of the month. A $25 late fee will be applied to tuition paid after the 5th of the month. All fees collected are non-refundable. There are NO refunds for missed or dropped classes. Tuition is based on enrollment, not attendance.
• Payment Methods: Tuition paid by card can be paid online through Dance Studio Pro, or in the studio via Tap to Pay. Cash and check can be paid in person at the dance studio.
• Withdraws: Withdrawals must be made 7 days prior to the next billing period.
VI. Safety and Well-being:
• Injury Reporting: If your child is injured a doctor’s note is required out-lining limitations for class.
• Health: Students are encouraged to stay home when ill. If your child is running a fever of 100.4 or greater, vomiting or having diarrhea, please do not send them to class.
VII. Technology and Social Media:
• Cell phones: Cell phones are allowed while in the studio but strictly prohibited during class time. Phones used during class time will be taken by teachers and returned when class is over. Additionally, no photos are allowed during class time. Any pictures taken by studio staff will only be published after permission release is signed by parents.
• Social media: Social media during class time is strictly prohibited. Parents and staff are expected to always maintain a respective tone regarding the studio and the students on social media platforms. Violation will result in immediate termination of dancers and/or staff.
VIII. Observation and Parent Involvement:
• Observation: Parental observation is not allowed on a weekly class basis due to the disruption it may cause. The studio will provide periods of observation of the class to showcase the student’s growth.
• Parental Involvement: We expect parents, students and accompanying siblings to maintain a positive and calm environment at the studio. Loud disruptions will not be tolerated.
IX. Miscellaneous:
• Lost and Found: There is a lost and found basket in the dancer’s locker room. Please check there first when looking for lost items such a shirt, shoes, socks, etc.
• Studio Property: We welcome everyone into our dance studio home. Please treat it as you would treat your own home.
• Code of Conduct: Elevate Movement will not tolerate discrimination or bullying in any form. We are committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for our dancers to thrive in. Please report any violations to Maurie Jhaveri, Traci Craig, D’Anna Graham, Larissa Bass or Tami Birch for investigation.

Waiver & Liability

Acknowledgment of Risk

I acknowledge that participation in dance classes involves inherent risks, including but not limited to muscle strain, sprains, falls, collisions, and potential serious injuries. I confirm that the student is physically capable of participating in dance activities and has not been advised otherwise by a medical professional.

Release of Liability
I, the undersigned, voluntarily assume all risks associated with participating in dance classes at ELEVATE MOVEMENT DANCE ACADEMY. I waive, release, and hold harmless ELEVATE MOVEMENT DANCE ACADEMY, its instructors, staff, volunteers, affiliates, and facility owners from any claims, demands, liabilities, or causes of action related to personal injury, property damage, or other losses arising from participation in studio activities. This waiver applies to all studio activities, including but not limited to classes, performances, competitions, workshops, and travel to and from events.

Medical Authorization
In the event of a medical emergency, I authorize the instructors or representatives of ELEVATE MOVEMENT DANCE ACADEMY to obtain medical treatment for the student if necessary. I understand that I am responsible for any medical expenses incurred as a result of participation.

Indemnification Clause
I agree to indemnify and hold harmless ELEVATE MOVEMENT DANCE ACADEMY, its instructors, employees, and facility from any claims or liabilities that may arise due to participation in classes or related activities.

Health and Safety Acknowledgement
I agree that participation in any dance activity involves a risk of physical injury. I exempt, release, and indemnify ELEVATE MOVEMENT DANCE ACADEMY and its Owners from liability for any injury, illness, or damage arising during participation in any activities.

Photography & Media Release
I grant ELEVATE MOVEMENT DANCE ACADEMY permission to use photos and videos that feature my dancer, for website, marketing and advertisement, and social media overseen by our staff. Parents are not allowed to post new EMDA dance videos until the season has begun; however, you may post pictures.

By accepting this waiver below, I confirm that I have read, understood, and voluntarily agree to
the terms outlined in this waiver form.
