Applicable to all classes, excluding Dance Camp: To set your dancer up for success in, it really does start with dress code. Being in the proper “dance wear” will put your dancer into “dance mode.” And that’s when they can really put their focus into learning, growing, and perfecting their abilities as well as allow teachers to properly see and support their form. The full dress code which is followed for recitals is available on http://rhythmmotiondance.com/rec-dresscode. Below are basic directions: HAIR Make sure your dancer has their hair pulled back and out of the way so that it doesn’t become a hindrance or get in their way. The best hair solution often depends on your individual dancer and their hair. For example, very long hair does best in a low bun or braid so that it doesn’t get stepped on. Shorter hair will be just fine in a ponytail. UNIFORM All classes: Form-fitting dancewear works best (leotard/bodysuit, shorts and tights). Your dancer will feel more secure, and stay covered, if they are wearing something that stays in place, no matter what trick they are working on. It will also allow the teacher to see and correct their form. Dance Camp: dancers should wear weather-appropriate active wear. JEWELRY Jewelry and dance don’t mix well. For the safety of your dancer, and the teacher, only stud earrings are allowed. FOOTWEAR Ballet slippers for ballet. Jazz shoes (any colour) for jazz. Tap shoes (lace or strap) for tap. Indoor sneakers for hip hop. Dance Camp: dancers should wear clean indoor sneakers or jazz or ballet shoes. There are many second hand shoes in our lobby available to borrow until no longer in use. You can also find great second hand shoes in the KL and Area Dance wear sale/Exchange Facebook group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/1207522615935059/) or order via the forms found on http://rhythmmotiondance.com/rec-dresscode.
