Purpose of Dress Code
The purpose of the dress code at Vibe Dance Academy is to ensure that all students are dressed appropriately for their classes, enhancing their comfort, safety, and ability to move freely. A proper dress code allows instructors to clearly see students’ body alignment and movements, which is essential for effective teaching and injury prevention.

General Guidelines
1. Clean and Comfortable Attire
o All students are required to wear clean, properly fitted dancewear appropriate for their specific class.
o No loose or baggy clothing, as it can hinder movement and potentially cause injury.
o Students should arrive for class in their dance attire, ready to participate.
2. Footwear
o Ballet: Pink or black ballet slippers, depending on the level. No socks or tights should be worn over the slippers.
o Jazz: Tan turners. No sneakers or sandals allowed.
o Lyrical: Tan turners. No sneakers or sandals allowed.
o Tap: Black tap shoes with appropriate heel and toe.
o Hip-Hop: Clean, indoor sneakers with non-marking soles (no street shoes).
o Modern/Contemporary: Barefoot or foot undeez (for safety and comfort).
o Other Styles: Footwear will be specified for specific classes.
3. Hair
o Hair should be neatly styled to avoid obstruction of vision or movement.
o For ballet, modern, and other technical classes, hair should be pulled back and kept off the face; a secure bun, ponytail, or braids, depending on the style of dance.
o For hip-hop and jazz, hair may be worn in a ponytail or secure style, but should still be kept off the face.
4. Jewelry
o No large or dangling jewelry should be worn during class for safety reasons.
o Small stud earrings are acceptable, but rings, necklaces, bracelets, and large earrings should be removed prior to class.
o No piercings or jewelry that could catch on clothing or other students should be worn.
5. Tights and Leggings
o Ballet: Ballet students should wear pink footed or convertible tights.
o Jazz/Tap/Hip-Hop: Students can wear leggings, dance shorts, or tan tights.
o Modern/Contemporary: Convertible tights, footless tights, or leggings are acceptable.
