Parent Contract effective September 1, 2025 - August 31, 2026
Parents at Moment in Time Dance Company are to be upheld by the below responsibilities, values, and actions.
Parent Responsibilities
Getting your dancer to and from practice on time (10 minutes prior to practice time is on time to allow time to stretch and warm up. For the first classes of the day: the building will be unlocked 15-minutes prior to classes starting).
Ensuring your dancer is ready for practice (hair up, jewelry out, appropriate dancewear, all necessary shoes for practice).
Getting your dancer to and from competitions on time (all information will be shared in a timely manner prior to competition dates).
Ensuring your dancer is ready for competitions. (all costume pieces, hair pieces, hair done, makeup done, tights, shoes, etc).
Parents are to be respectful, professional, and exemplify sportsmanlike conduct in all dance environments (practices, performances, competitions).
Parents are to hold attendance as a top priority and if their dancer misses 3 practices, it is highly recommended to schedule a private lesson. If proper measures are not met, your dancer might face sitting out of their routines at recital/competition, with or without reimbursement of registration fees.
Parents are responsible for all dancer costume pieces (hair pieces, makeup, tights, costumes, accessories). All misplaced, lost, or stolen pieces are subject to replacement fees.
Behaviors and Communications
Parents are to respect all MIT dancers, parents, staff, and guests. Parents are to respect all people encountered when representing MIT dance.
Parents are to communicate with instructors and directors at the time of any problems or issues. An action plan will be developed at the discretion of the director.
Financial Responsibilities
Responsible for timely payments of tuition, costume, and competition registration fees. Understanding that there will be late fees ($10 per week) applied to dancer accounts. Should a dancer be pulled from Moment in Time Dance Company, all outstanding balances for the year are to be paid.
A card must be on file for all dancer accounts. You do not need to enroll in autopay to have a card on file. If the dancer account balance is overdue by 10 days, your card will be charged for the amount due. These due dates and notice of charge will be communicated via email.
Release Statements from Parents
Parents give permission and approval for participation in dance programs and events. Parents assume all risks and hazards incidental to such participation including transportation to and from all activities and do hereby waive, release, absolve directors, instructors, organizers, sponsors, supervisors, participants, and owners.
Parents grant permission for Moment in Time Dance Company to use photographs and videos in publications, news releases online, and in other communications related to the mission of the dance company. I understand there will be no compensation for the use of these photos and videos. (Dancers will never be tagged in our posts, if you wish to tag them: you definitely can).
Parents are aware of tuition fees and policies and understand that regular season class fees are due on or before the first class in each month. Parents also understand that if their tuition is not paid by the due date, their dancers will be asked to sit out of class and will not be able to participate in any classes, events, or performances. Parents understand that it is their responsibility to obtain the class tuition for their child(rens) class(es). Parents understand that a $10 per week late fee will be added to their payment every week until the tuition is paid. Parents understand that each month will consist of 2-5 practices and tuition does not differ based on the number of classes. When there is no school at WDC, there will be no dance class. In case of inclement weather, the director will cancel class at the owner’s discretion and a makeup class may or may not be planned. Parents understand that if their dancer(s) is/are unable to complete the entire season, they are still responsible to complete tuition and pay all fees that are outstanding. This dance company expects that when a dancer registers for the season, all reasonable effort will be made by the dancer/family to complete the entire season.
Parents understand that the groups are based on average age and their dancer may be moved to a different group based on skill level and experience.
Parents understand that if their dancer is at the competitive age level and will be registered for 2 numbers at 2-3 competitions per season. Parents understand that the competitions are typically held near Minneapolis/St. Paul and parents will have the responsibility of getting their dancer to and from competitions on time.
If there is a medical emergency (deemed by circumstance at the discretion of the director and instructors), emergency medical services will be contacted. These instances include but are not limited to: fainting, an assumed break of a bone, an injury making the dancer immobile or unable to communicate, etc.
If there is a non-emergent injury (deemed by circumstance at the discretion of the director and instructors), parents will be contacted first for further instruction. These instances include but are not limited to: vomiting, a fall without the assumption of a bone break, slight shortness of breath, etc.
Disciplinary Action
Should this contract be broken, the dancer and parent(s) risk expulsion or other disciplinary action from Moment in Time Dance Company at the discretion of the director. The disciplinary plan is as follows (but can be modified at any time based on situation and director discretion)
Verbal Warning with dancer. This will be documented.
Verbal communication with parents. This will be documented.
3 class suspension. A plan will be developed with the dancer to mitigate and resolve the issue. This will be documented and signed by the director, dancer, and parents.
Expulsion at the conclusion of the season or immediate expulsion.
The MIT Director holds the right to dismiss any dancer, at any time, for any reason, with or without previous notice. There will be no reimbursements on accounts.
We hold the right to refuse service (at any time) to anyone.
By signing this contract, dancer parent(s) agree to uphold the values and ideals of Time Dance Company.
