Payments are posted on the 1st of the month and due by the 15th; a $10 late charge will be posted for every 7 days late. Removal from the class will be required if payments are not received. Payments for costumes will be paid within 30 days of posting; a $10 late charge for every 7 days after. Replacement items will be charged to DSP and require payment within the week. If attendance becomes an issue you could be asked to leave the class. I consent/do not consent to pictures and videos to be posted on our Facebook, Instagram, Website, and Band. I understand that Band is the preferred way of communication, then email, or calling the studio. Face-to-face is great if it requires serious communication, please notify us on the Band app if you would like a face-to-face discussion. Owners are not always available during practice and the director will require an appointment. No posting of any recordings during practice or competitions until the season is completed on any social media. This is to protect the dancer and choreography.
-If a dancer's GPA/grades have fallen below the average standard we will place the dancer on academic probation. We value education as much as we value the choreography in our dances. We DO NOT want dancing to get in the way of a good education. -Parents we rely on you to let us know if your dancer is having problems with school. We have space at the studio for them to do their homework and study if needed. If they require a quiet setting we can work on that for them.
-Attendance is required, failure to attend class will cause the dancer to lose the opportunity to perform or compete. -It is imperative for the dancers to train TOGETHER as a team, and for each dancer to train consistently as an individual. -If missing a class is unavoidable we will require notice to be sent through Band notifying instructors that you will be gone. -For last-minute emergencies please get in touch with Katilynn (254-223-0909) or Kandyce (254-404-5966) by phone call or text message. -Tuition does not change for missed classes. -Excessive absences, even when excused, will not be tolerated.
-Arrive to class on time (5 minutes before their class begins, ready for class and warming up in the lobby). -Dressed appropriately, have appropriate shoes, and correct hair (up and out of the dancer's face, should not fall during class). -Are not being disruptive in the lobby.
Parent involvement is crucial in having a successful team. These are the ways information will be distributed and received: -Band -- Recreation and Competition Teams -- anything dance-related will be posted here. Please keep your notifications on. -Email -- katilynnsod@gmail.com -In-person, feel free to ask questions to Kandyce, Susan, or Courtney whenever we are in the studio. If you would like to speak with Katilynn, Mikiah, or Hannah we ask that you send them a message to find a time they are not in class. -Communication is key and we will do our best to get the information to you as soon and completely as possible.
The following guidelines apply to dancers, parents, family, or anyone attending the competition that represents Katilynn's School of Dance. --We APPLAUD for EVERYONE! Applause should take place after every routine and during each award ceremony. It does not matter if the dance is from our studio or not, the dancers on stage rehearse just as much as we do and their efforts deserve our attention. --Etiquette: No one should enter the auditorium or walk in the aisles while any routine is on stage. Please remain in your seat or outside the auditorium doors until the dancers have finished and then move quickly and quietly in or out. --Noisemakers are strictly PROHIBITED at competitions. External devices are banned from most if not all competitions and place the parent at risk of being removed from the venue, or a loss of points for the dancers. Please remain respectful during the dance on stage. --Dancers and parents MUST respectably conduct themselves at ALL times during audio events, competitions, rehearsals, etc. Talking about other dance studios and dance companies negatively is not allowed. You are representing Katilynn's School of Dance so please watch your language and choice of words. --Competitions DO NOT allow photography or video to be taken inside the theater. There are paid professionals who will be taking pictures as well as videos for purchase at the event. --Pictures and videos ARE allowed during Improv dances and awards. --We ask you to support your fellow teammates and watch their routines if you are able. -Dancers are not to be left unattended at a competition. Each dancer needs to have an adult responsible for them; even the Teen and Senior groups. --This means that a parent or responsible adult must be able to bring them, set them up, dress and make-up them, feed them, and take them home. --Before leaving the competition you must check in with the Director or your instructor to ensure there is nothing else going on that day for that dancer.
-If your dancer is on the competition team, each competition is MANDATORY. We do 5 Regional and 1 National competition between January and June; roughly every 4 weeks. -Competition teams are costly and time-consuming. We require the dancer to be dedicated to the team and the parent dedicated to the dancer. -Some competitions will require a hotel stay for one night. We recommend booking ahead of time for the entire weekend. We do not receive the schedule until the week of the competition (3-7 days). Nationals are a week-long, we usually have that schedule about 10 days before the 1st dance day. -NO VIDEOS WILL BE ALLOWED ON ANY SOCIAL MEDIA UNTIL AFTER NATIONALS HAVE CONCLUDED. This is to protect the studio, choreography, and dancers. -No costume pictures until after the 1st Regional competition, also to protect the studio, choreography, and dancer. -Please feel free to share with friends and family through text, email, or in person, we are very proud of your dancer and you should be as well.
-Gossip will not be tolerated among parents or dancers. Parents are expected to support all Directors/Instructor's decisions. Please do not question the Instructor's choices in front of your dancers. -Each Dancer must be responsible for his/her/their commitment to their team. Dancers must be willing to work hard, practice daily, and most importantly, they must have excellent behavior during rehearsal and class. -We reinforce the ideology that it is not about the award received it is about personal growth and progress for each dancer. Please do not place too much importance on the dancer's ribbons/pins/trophies. -We focus on the importance of teamwork, as well as the progress of the individual Dancer. We want the dancers to know that every one of them is just as important as the next. -Each dancer is unique. We ask that you encourage your Dancer to be the best that he/she can be, regardless of what the other dancers may achieve.
