Payment and Tuition Information: Tuition is due by the first of each month. If accounts are paid after the tenth of the month, there will be a $10.00 late fee applied to the account balance. There is a $25.00 returned check charge for any checks returned by the bank. Tuition is based on a flat fee for the year billed in four-week sessions, not the number of classes per month. We do not prorate months for missed days, holidays or school vacations. (The month of December is an exception, unless stated otherwise.) If a student attends one class in a month, you are responsible for the full month’s tuition. If a student is taking more classes than they are registered for, parents will be responsible to pay the difference. There is a $40.00 registration fee per student due upon registration. If a student misses 3 consecutive months, student will need to re-register. All tuition payments are non-refundable. Payments can be made by card, cash, check, Zelle or on our online parent portal. There is a 3% convenience fee when paying on the terminal or on our online parent portal.
Please review our studio policies.
Class Placement: All placement decisions by the instructors are based on class participation, attendance, progress, ability, and consistency. It is not unusual to remain in the same level for more than one year. Each student has a rate at which they will progress physically and mentally. Please respect the instructor’s knowledge of where your child should be placed in each year of their dance training. A student who is placed in a class that is too difficult or a level that is not appropriate to their working ability will lose interest in their development as a dancer or hold the class back from progressing. The directors and instructors of Novus Dance want to further your child’s training as a dancer and want them to enjoy dance for many years. Parents may request a conference to discuss student progress.
Appropriate Attire: Upon entering the studio all students must have hair in a bun and dressed in appropriate class attire (see Parent Handbook for list of appropriate dancewear).
Classroom Rules: All students are expected to uphold all classroom rules at all times. For a complete list of rules, please see your handbook.
Attendance and Participation
Tardiness: Dancers are expected to be on time for class with hair done & shoes on when they enter the classroom. Important warm-ups are missed if a student is late, and injuries could result. Students are expected to be ready for their lessons. This means a student is
expected to arrive, warm up and stretch at least 10 to 15 minutes before a lesson or rehearsal begins. This transition period assists in one’s focus and physical well-being. Absences/Make-Up Classes:We do not give credit towards tuition for missed classes. Class Cancellations: Dance classes will follow the McAllen School District cancellations due to inclement weather and holidays. If cancellation is necessary, a message will be left on our Facebook/Instagram page and our parent group chat. Add/Drop Classes: Parents must complete an Add/Drop form in order to make any changes to their original dance schedule. Forms are available at the front desk. Your “drop date†will be effective on the 1st of the following month. In order to drop a class, you must turn in a Drop form no later than the 15th of the month prior to your drop date to avoid being charged another month (i.e. drop no later than July 15 to be effective August 1). Add/Drops made by phone will not be accepted. Students wishing to add/drop/ change a class must first confirm with the Front Desk staff regarding availability and get instructor approval. All Registration Fees and Monthly Tuition are non-refundable.
Class Observation: No visitors/parents are allowed inside the classroom during class time. Due to our limited space, we ask parents to wait outside in order to give our dancers appropriate room to change and prepare for class. Parents are prohibited from entering a class in progress. If your child needs to be removed from class early, please inform the teacher prior to class. If an emergency arises, please inform the front desk, and they will quietly bring your child to you. If you have other concerns please ask the front desk to pass a note onto the teacher and they will meet with you while on break, or after class. Please refrain from standing in front of the classroom door, standing in an open classroom doorway, or peeking through the door windows during class. For safety reasons, the doors must remain unobstructed at all times to allow clear access to and from the classroom.
Pick-Up: Parents please be prompt to pick your children up at the end of class. Teachers tend to have classes back to back, and we cannot baby-sit students. If they must wait, have them prepared ahead of time with some work to keep them occupied. The studio will not stay open more than 10 minutes after the last class of the evening. It is mandatory for all dancers to stay inside the building until their ride arrives.
