I hereby agree to abide by the following studio policies:
Kona Dance and Performing Arts – Studio Policies
Student Expectations
*Students must arrive in appropriate dance attire as listed in the Dress Code, with hair pulled back and secured away from the face.
*Proper dance shoes (ballet, tap, or jazz) are required for participation in class.
*Arriving 10 minutes prior to class is recommended to allow time for warm-up and punctuality.
*Students should wait quietly in the designated student waiting area until class begins and will be directed by staff when it’s time to proceed to Studio A or Studio B.
*No eating or drinking (except for water from a closed water bottle) is allowed in the student waiting area. Please use the Family Waiting area for eating.
*Students aged 12 and older who are on-site without a parent or guardian should remain engaged in quiet, productive activities before class begins. Suggested options include completing homework, reading a book, warming up or stretching, or enjoying a snack in the family waiting area. Students are expected to keep noise to a minimum and avoid disturbing ongoing classes or staff members.
Class Observation
*To maintain a focused and distraction-free learning environment, we DO NOT allow class observation during regular weekly classes for any student level.
*Please do not pull chairs up to the doors or stand in the doorway, as it is a distraction to our students and teachers.
*We warmly invite families to attend our designated Family Watch Weeks, held twice per season.
*For your comfort while waiting, a family waiting area is available at the front of the studio. We kindly ask that all families use this space respectfully while classes are in session.
Family & Waiting Area Etiquette
*Families are welcome to relax in the Family Waiting Area during class. We encourage getting to know other parents and relatives in our dance ‘ohana.
*Help us keep the Family Waiting Area clean and free of trash. Please refrain from moving tables and chairs.
Noise Levels
*To support a focused and respectful learning environment, please keep noise to a minimum in all waiting areas.
*Conversations should remain quiet and respectful. Refrain from using noisy devices or allowing disruptive behavior while classes are in session.
Entering the Studio
*All students should enter through the front side door of the studio facing Haleki’i Street.
*All students should check in with the front desk upon arrival.
*No entry should be made through Studio A roll-up door or Studio B double doors.
*For the safety and concentration of our dancers, parents and guardians should not enter the studio during class time unless specifically invited by the instructor. This policy helps reduce distractions and supports a productive class atmosphere.
*If invited into the studio during class time, all street footwear should be removed to protect our specialized dance flooring.
Photography/Videography
*To respect the privacy and focus of all students, please do not take photos or videos during class unless you have received prior permission from the instructor or studio staff. We will notify families when media is allowed (e.g., during Family Watch Weeks or performances).
Dance Floor Rules
*Only water in a closed water bottle container is allowed on the dance floor—no gum, food, or other beverages.
*No cell phones in studio a or b dance floor allowed
Minor Students & Pick-Up Policy
*A parent/guardian must escort minors (under age 12) into the studio and remain with them until class begins.
*Minors (under age 12) must be picked up promptly at the end of class.
*Level 4 and Level 5 students aged 12 and older may be dropped off early without parent supervision. Students should bring activities to keep themselves occupied and must refrain from distracting ongoing classes or staff members.
*A late pick-up fee of $15 will be charged if a child remains in the building 10 minutes after class ends. An additional $20 fee will apply for every 15 minutes thereafter.
Attendance & Makeup Classes
*Registered students are expected to attend class regularly. No refunds or credits will be given for missed classes under most circumstances.
*Makeup classes are available only for excused absences with prior approval from the instructor and studio.
*Account credits expire 12 months from the issue date (exceptions apply for work trade credits).
Class Cancellations
*If the studio must cancel class due to weather, natural disasters, or other unforeseen events, we will coordinate a makeup class at no additional cost.
*Refunds will not be provided if a student or teacher is unable to attend the makeup class.
