Attendance & Absences
Regular attendance is essential to a dancer's progress and the success of group choreography. Students arriving more than 15 minutes late may be asked to observe class if instruction has progressed beyond a safe point to join. Excessive absences prior to the recital may result in changes to choreography or removal from portions of the performance at the director's discretion.
If a student will be absent, please log in to the parent portal, go to the attendance tab, select “Report Attendance,” and choose the appropriate child and class and indicate that they will be absent.
Class Changes or Cancellations
Legacy Dance Center reserves the right to combine, cancel, or modify class schedules based on enrollment or staffing needs. If a class must be cancelled, affected students will be placed into a class appropriate for their level of experience, at the discretion of the director.
Class Levels and Placement
Students are continually evaluated throughout the year, especially during the first month of classes. This period is used to review and assess appropriate placement. Legacy Dance Center LLC (LDC) is committed to ensuring that all students are placed where they can grow and succeed. At the end of each season, students are evaluated for class placement for the following year. The director reserves the right to place or move students based on technical ability and progress, regardless of their initial registration.
Classroom Expectations & Dress Code
Students are expected to arrive on time, having used the restroom prior to class, with their hair properly secured out of their face. To ensure safe and effective instruction, students must wear form-fitting clothing appropriate for each dance style. Required dance shoes must be worn and kept in good condition. Jeans, street clothes or shoes are not permitted in any class, including hip hop. All jewelry must be removed before participating in class. Please refer to our website for specific class dress code requirements.
Classroom Observation
Legacy Dance Center LLC classes are closed to weekly parent observation. Students must be able to attend independently (with the exception of our Move with Me class), allowing them to learn in a focused and comfortable environment. Throughout the season, parents/guardians will be invited to special observation days to see what their dancer has been working on. Please note that some students may feel nervous performing in front of others, while others enjoy it.
Closings
For weather-related or emergency closing, an email will be sent by 2pm. If New Fairfield schools are delayed, all morning classes will be cancelled. If New Fairfield schools are closed, all classes will be cancelled. In the event of a studio closure due to government mandate, public health crisis, or other emergency, classes may be conducted virtually. No refunds or credits will be issued for temporary closures or a transition to online classes.
Communication
Parents, grandparents or siblings are not permitted to interrupt or sit in on classes for any reason. Teachers are not available to chat between classes, as they must remain on schedule and prepare for the next class.
All questions, concerns, or updates should be directed to the studio via email at legacydancectr@gmail.com. Legacy Dance Center strives to respond to emails and messages in a timely manner. Response times may be longer during holidays, weekends, performances, competitions, and studio events.
It is the responsibility of each family to regularly review email communications, the parent portal, and studio newsletters. Failure to read communications does not exempt families from studio policies, deadlines, fees, schedule changes, or recital requirements.
Costume & Recital Policy
Recital participation is optional, but families must notify via email by October 15th if a dancer will not participate. All costume and recital payments are non-refundable for any reason. Costume companies do not allow returns or cancellations. Costume fees will be charged with November tuition on October 25th. A recital fee of $110 per student ($75 for each additional sibling) will be charged on January 25 with the February tuition payment. This fee includes the tights needed for the costume, the recital t-shirt, a recital trophy, recital video download, and all additional rehearsals at the recital venue.
Injury Policy and Protocol
Any medical issue or injury lasting longer than one week must be reported in writing to LDC. If an injury lasts more than two weeks, a doctor’s note is required to return to class.
Makeup Classes
Makeup classes are only offered when a class is canceled due to faculty illness or unavoidable conflicts. Makeups are not provided for student absences, injuries or schedule conflicts.
Registration
Registration is completed through the online parent portal. A $40 non-refundable registration fee is due per child at the time of enrollment. Enrollments received after December 1 will include an additional $25 shipping and handling fee to cover late costume processing and delivery costs. Families registering after the costume billing date will have the costume fee charged at the time of enrollment.

Tuition & Cancellation Policy
Enrollment reserves a dancer's place for the entire dance season. Tuition is divided into 9 equal payments for your convenience and is not a month-to-month membership. By registering, families are committing to participation for the full dance season.
The number of classes per month may vary, but the tuition amount remains the same. Tuition is not prorated for missed classes due to holidays, vacations, illness, weather etc. A credit card is required at registration and all accounts will be enrolled in autopay. Tuition is due on the 25th of the month prior to service (ex. October tuition is due by September 25). September tuition is due at the time of registration. Families choosing to pay by cash or check must do so before the 25th to avoid being charged via autopay.
Statements can be found on the parent portal. Statements are only sent to accounts that are past due. There is a $25 fee for late payments, returned payments or if a payment cannot be processed on the due date. An attempt to charge your credit card on file will occur every 5 days. If the attempts to charge the card on file are not successful, a $5.00 charge will be added to the account each time a charge is denied by a credit carrier.
Discounts are available for students taking multiple classes or for families with multiple dancers enrolled. Half-hour classes are not eligible for discount pricing. Families interested in annual tuition prepayment should contact the studio to request discount information.
Tuition is non-refundable. Written notice via email is required for any withdrawal request. No withdrawals will be permitted after February 1, and tuition for the remainder of the season will remain due. Withdrawal requests must be submitted in writing via email by the 15th of the month to avoid the next tuition payment. Requests received after the 15th will be responsible for the following month's tuition payment.
