Sitka Stage and Screen Studio Policies
REFUNDS AND CANCELATIONS
Single Class: In the occasion that a class must be cancelled due to poor weather conditions, illness of the instructors, or other unforeseen circumstances, classes will either be added to the end of the course or extended to a longer class. If a class must be cancelled, the instructors will inform the attendees no later than 5 hours before the start of the class.
Full Class: Sitka Stage & Screen reserves the right to cancel any classes or workshops if numbers fall below the minimum requirement or for other exceptional reasons. In such an event you will be informed of this decision as soon as possible and given the opportunity to book on the next available class or workshop available. If a suitable replacement class or workshop is not available, a full refund will be given for the cancelled class or workshop.
Missed Class: If a student misses class or arrives late, Sitka Stage & Screen cannot guarantee a makeup for said day or any products missing due to any unattended class. Refunds will not be given for any missed classes.
Semester Class or Workshop Refund Policy
- Up to 15 Days Before Class Start Date: Full Refund is provided if withdraw request is received prior to 15 days ahead of class start
- 8 - 14 Days Before Class Start Date: 50% of the class cost will be refunded if withdrawal is requested between 8 - 14 days before the class start date.
- 7 Day(s) Before Class Start Date or after: No refund will be given if withdrawal is requested within 7 days of the start of class or after.
Year Long Class Refund Policy
- Withdraw up to 14 days ahead of class start date with no repercussions
- If withdrawal is requested within 14 days of class start date or after a $100 cancellation fee will apply
- The $85 Registration Fee for Year-long classes is Non-Refundable
FEES, TUITION AND PAYMENTS
- Year Long classes have a non-refundable Registration Fee required for each student and is due at time of registration. Registration fees may cover costs such as Headshots, Class Uniforms, Admin etc.
- Payment for year long class tuition can be made in a lump sum or installments over Sept to May. Semester class fees can be split over the length of the class if needed however, you must contact the office before registering.
- Monthly tuition fees are charged within the first 5 days of each month (Sept to May) and are due by the 7th of each month. A late fee of $10 will be charged if payment is not received by the 14th.
- You will receive confirmation of your registration and details on how payments can be made by mid August for Year-Long classes.
- 5% GST will be added to all listed fees at time of billing.
- A charge of $30 will be applied to NSF cheques and declined credit cards. If withdrawing out of a year-long class after the start date a $100 withdrawal fee will be applied.
- Payment can be made online within your Portal, in person with card, cash or cheque (payment applied to your account when cheque clears) or via E-Transfer with the password Sitka2025
- If you have enrolled in Auto-Pay, the total due on your account will be charged to the card on file on the 5th of each month (as of Sept 2025). This is an update of our policies beginning September 2025 - where prior only the total tuition due would be charged.
YEAR END SHOW
- Our Year End Show takes place at the end of June each year. All Year-long theatre students and select Film classes are expected to participate unless specified or withdrawn.
- Regular classes throughout the year are to learn new skills and prepare to show them off at the Year End Show, if a performer misses more than 10 scheduled classes they may be withdrawn from the Year End Show.
- All performers must attend all Full Company Rehearsals, Costume Parades as well as Dress and Tech rehearsals at the Sid Williams Theatre for safety and preparation. If students miss these mandatory days they may be withdrawn from the Year End performance.
- All specific dates will be provided to you within the first week of classes. Any changes to these dates will be communicated with a minimum of 1 month's notice.
- Costumes for this show are sized and selected by our staff and directors.
STUDENT CONDUCT
Bullying & Harassment
- Sitka Stage & Screen maintains a zero-tolerance policy for bullying, discrimination, or harassment of any kind. This includes verbal, physical, emotional, or online behaviour directed toward students, staff, or families.
- All students are expected to treat peers and instructors with respect, kindness, and professionalism. Concerns or incidents should be reported immediately to the Studio Director or a staff member.
- Repeated or severe violations may result in removal from class without refund at the discretion of the studio staff.
Phone & Technology
- Phones and smart devices must be silenced and stored away during class and rehearsal times. Devices may only be used with instructor permission for filming assignments or studio-approved activities.
- Parents needing to contact a student during class should phone the studio, not message the student directly.
Attire & Personal Presentation for Theatre Program
- Students should wear comfortable, movement-friendly clothing (e.g., leggings, sweatpants, t-shirts). Avoid jeans, skirts, or restrictive clothing that limit movement or performance exercises.
- Appropriate shoes are required unless otherwise directed (e.g., jazz shoes, tap shoes). Hair should be tied back and out of the face during physical activities.
- No dangling jewelry, strong fragrances, or costumes. For performances or showcases, students will be provided with specific costume and/or dress guidelines.
