Standards of Conduct for Dancers, Parents, and Guests
At Dance Ink, we take pride in fostering a positive, respectful, and professional environment
both inside and outside the studio. These standards of conduct apply to all dancers, parents, and
guests when representing our studio at competitions, performances, events, and online. By
being part of our dance family, you agree to uphold these expectations.
1. General Conduct
● Treat all dancers, parents, instructors, judges, and event staff with kindness and respect.
● Show good sportsmanship at all times—celebrate achievements and support fellow
dancers.
● Follow all event rules and studio policies without argument.
● Refrain from engaging in gossip, negativity, or confrontational behavior.
● Do not disrupt classes, rehearsals, or backstage areas at events.
2. Competitions, Events, Performances, Volunteering
● Arrive on time and prepared with all required costumes, makeup, accessories, etc.
● Maintain a positive attitude, regardless of placements or results.
● Dancers must remain in designated areas and listen to studio staff and
competition/event personnel.
● Parents and guests are not permitted to engage with judges or event staff.
● Do not record or photograph performances unless explicitly allowed by the event.
● Respect all venues and clean up after yourself.
3. Online & Social Media Presence
● Represent the studio in a positive and professional manner online.
● Refrain from posting negative comments about other dancers, studios, judges, or
competitions.
● Do not share confidential information, choreography, class footage, or competition
routines without permission.
● Be mindful of what you post—once it’s online, it represents you and our studio.
● Report any instances of online bullying or misconduct to studio management.
4. Parental & Guest Expectations
● Support all dancers equally—competition is about growth and teamwork.
● Address any concerns directly with studio management in a respectful manner.
● Avoid coaching dancers from the sidelines in the studio or at events, or interfering with
instructors.
● Do not approach judges or event staff.
● Ensure that all financial obligations to the studio are met on time. Be aware of additional
fees for late payments or cancellations. If you sign up for an event and then cancel, fees
may be incurred.
● You are responsible for contributing to the culture and environment this organization
strives for. Children copy behavior so it is important that we are all role models in how
we treat one another and in how we speak about others.
5. Communication
● Be mindful of appropriate hours of communication and allow a reasonable amount of
time for a response.
● Email should be used for communication. In most cases, it is not appropriate to text the
personal cell phones of staff and volunteers.
● It is important to follow the suggestion of waiting 24 hours before making contact with
staff and volunteers if there is a complaint or issue. The 24-hour rule isn't about ignoring
problems—it’s about handling them with a level-headed approach to create a more
positive and productive resolution. Whether dealing with a dance teacher, business, or
any other service, patience and thoughtful communication lead to better outcomes for
everyone involved.
● Following the proper chain of command at Dance Ink—whether for communication,
fundraising, working with outside organizations, or volunteering with Aramark—is
essential for effective communication, professionalism, and achieving the best results.
○ Best Practices for Following the Chain of Command
✅ Identify the correct point of contact before reaching out.
✅ Follow internal procedures for fundraising approvals and outside
partnerships.
✅ Keep documentation of communication and agreements.
✅ Respect decision-making processes and avoid bypassing key
personnel.
✅ If unsure, ask for guidance on the proper steps before taking action.
6. Consequences for Violations
Failure to adhere to these standards may result in the following actions, depending on severity:
● First Offense: Conversation and coaching
● Second Offense: Verbal warning
● Third Offense: Written warning and possible suspension from upcoming events.
● Fourth Offense: Removal from the competition team, studio events, or, in extreme
cases, dismissal from the studio.
All decisions regarding conduct violations will be made at the discretion of studio management.
Our goal is to maintain a safe, positive, and professional atmosphere for all dancers and
families.
By participating in competitions, performances, and online engagement as a representative of
Ink Cares and Dance Ink, you agree to abide by these standards.
By adhering to this Code of Conduct, you contribute to a positive, productive, and supportive
environment that benefits our entire dance studio community. We appreciate your cooperation
in making our dance community one of respect, integrity, and excellence!
