3. Recital Participation and Attendance Policy
In addition to paying the recital fee and for all costumes, participation in the recital requires consistent class attendance. Consistent class attendance is defined as obtaining an excused absence approval for any class that is missed following the return from winter break at the start of 2027. To obtain excused absence approval you must email
admin@artinmotionconservatoryofdance.com with the reason your dancer will be missing class. Examples of approved absences include, but are not limited to, illness, family emergency, one “no-questions-asked” vacation day per season. Unless in the event of an emergency or illness, excused absence requests must be sent a minimum of 48 hours prior to the missed class to be considered. We need our students to attend classes consistently so the group as a whole can progress in skill and choreography.
Please understand, this standard is in place to secure the quality of instruction that is taught, as well as the equity within the learning environment.
If your child misses more than 50% of any of their classes or has acquired more than 3 unexcused absences after January 2026, they will not be permitted to participate in the recital. Recital fees and costume fees are nonrefundable.
4. Recital and Costumes
Recital is not mandatory, however encouraged.
The recital will be at the end of the season toward approximately late May or early June, 2027. Official date to be announced.
Art in Motion will assume all students will be participating in the recital unless otherwise notified in email to admin@artinmotionconservatoryofdance.com prior to the date costume fees are due, February 1st, 2027.
The Recital Fee is approx. $250 per family and is due March 1st, 2027.
Costume Fees are approx. $90 per costume and is due February 1st, 2027.
We work to keep these as low as possible.
If a student’s costume fee is not paid by February 1st, there is no guarantee they will be able to participate in the recital. Costume week dates will be announced during the spring via email.
Costume week is a single week where all costumes will be tried on in the last 20 minutes of every class. A parent guardian must be present at the Conservatory for a child to try on their costume. Parent Guardians must initial that they received their students’ costume, that it fits, and that they understand all protocol associated with the costume for recital day in order to take the costume home. If a parent guardian is not present for a scheduled costume fitting, they will have to schedule a costume fitting appointment at $15 per costume. If a costume does not fit, Art in Motion will re-measure the student and if their measurements fall outside of 3 inches of what the measurements we have on file for the size they measured into, Art in Motion will purchase a new costume at no cost to you. If the measurement is less than 3 inches from the measurements used to size the student, the parent may either alter the costume or choose to pay to have a new size ordered if available. Recital Fees and Costume Fees are non refundable. Costumes are a commodity that are given to dancers performing in the recital. Art in Motion does not sell costumes.
