Saint Augustine Ballet 2026–2027 Dress Code Policy
At Saint Augustine Ballet, our dress code promotes discipline, professionalism, safety, and unity among our students. Proper dance attire allows instructors to clearly observe alignment, technique, and body placement, creating the best possible learning environment. Students are expected to arrive at every class dressed in the required dress code for their assigned class. Students who are not dressed according to the dress code may be asked to observe class or leave until they are properly dressed.
Official Saint Augustine Ballet uniforms are available through the studio and must be ordered through the front desk. All other required dress code items—including dance shoes, tights, hair accessories, and any additional apparel—are not sold by the studio and may be purchased from the dance retailer of your choice, provided they meet the dress code requirements.
Hair Requirements
All students must have their hair neatly secured away from the face and off the neck before class begins. All female ballet students are required to wear their hair in a secure ballet bun. Male students with short hair should keep it neatly groomed and styled away from the face. Male students with long hair must securely tie it back in a ponytail or bun so it remains off the face and neck throughout class. Proper hair placement is essential for correct body alignment, technique, and presentation while preventing distractions during class.

Pre-Ballet through Ballet 7
All official ballet uniforms feature the embroidered Saint Augustine Ballet logo and are assigned according to each dancer's level or program. Uniforms must be purchased through Saint Augustine Ballet.
Pre-Ballet & Ballet 1
Girls
-Official Saint Augustine Ballet Lavender Skirted Tank Leotard with Attached Layered Mesh Skirt featuring the embroidered SAB logo.
-Pink split-sole canvas ballet shoes.
-Ballet 1: Pink ballet tights are required and must be free of holes or tears. (Pre-Ballet: Pink ballet tights are optional)
Boys
-Official SAB class shirt.
-Black dance tights, dance pants, or dance shorts.
-Black split-sole canvas ballet shoes.
Ballet 2 through Ballet 7
Girls
-Official Saint Augustine Ballet leotard featuring the embroidered SAB logo in the color assigned to the dancer's level.
-Matching SAB ballet skirt.
-Pink ballet tights (free of holes or tears).
-Pink split-sole canvas ballet shoes. Students enrolled in Pointe must wear teacher-approved pointe shoes.

General Dress Code Policies
-Students should arrive at every class fully dressed and ready to dance.
-Jewelry is not permitted during class, with the exception of small stud earrings.
-Watches, necklaces, bracelets, anklets, smart watches, and large earrings must be removed before class.
-Dancewear should be clean, properly fitted, and in good condition.
-Ballet tights must be free of holes or tears.
-Warm-up clothing (such as sweaters, jackets, loose pants, shorts, or leg warmers) may only be worn with instructor approval and may be removed at the teacher's request during class.
-Learning to properly use the dressing rooms is an important part of a dancer's education and professional development. Students are expected to become responsible for managing their own dance attire and personal belongings by keeping them neatly organized in their assigned dressing room throughout the day. Dance bags, clothing, shoes, and other personal items should remain in the dressing room during classes and should not be kept by parents in the lobby or other areas of the studio. Parents who
remain at the studio are encouraged to support younger dancers in developing these habits while promoting independence and responsibility.
-Dressing rooms are assigned by level to help provide adequate space and maintain an organized environment. The Pink Dressing Room is designated for students in Pre-Ballet through Ballet 4. The Blue Dressing Room is designated for students in Ballet 5 through Ballet 7 and the Conservatory Program. Students should use only their assigned dressing room unless otherwise directed by a faculty or staff member.
-At the end of each day, students are responsible for removing all personal belongings from their assigned dressing room before leaving the studio. Clothing, shoes, dance bags, water bottles, snacks, and all other personal items must be taken home each day. Personal belongings may not be stored overnight unless specifically authorized by Saint Augustine Ballet.
-Students are expected to leave the dressing rooms clean and orderly after each use. Trash, food containers, wrappers, and personal items must be properly disposed of or taken home. Keeping the dressing rooms clean and organized is a shared responsibility and reflects the professionalism, respect, and discipline expected of every Saint Augustine Ballet dancer.
-All dance shoes, dance attire, and personal dance accessories must be clearly labeled with the student's full name. Labeling personal belongings helps prevent lost items and allows staff to quickly return misplaced belongings to their owners.
-All students participating in the Annual Gala are required to wear the official Saint Augustine Ballet uniform.
-Saint Augustine Ballet is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal belongings.
-Saint Augustine Ballet reserves the right to determine whether a student's attire complies with the requirements of this dress code.
