Practice attire:
Dancers must wear clothing that they can move in to every practice. Jeans are not allowed as they restrict movement too much. Recommended wear is a t-shirt and athletic shorts.
Shoes must be free of dirt, snow, salt, mud, and other debris as it causes unsafe conditions on the floor. Socks can be worn by young dancers, kindergarten and younger, but is not recommended for grades one and up as the moves can get unsafe with slippery footwear. Jazz dance shoes are recommended. Amazon and Just for Kix are great options to find these shoes. Ask Courtney for assistance.
Hair must be pulled back if possible to keep hair out of their faces. When turning, this is very dangerous. A bun is recommended to prevent hair whipping. Hair accessories can be worn, not recommended if they take them out constantly. The dancer will be given two warnings then they will need to keep them out.
Jewelry is not allowed during class. Necklaces could break and earrings can be ripped out during class. Earrings can be worn ONLY if they are tight to the ear.
Practice days:
All dancers must be in attendance for every practice unless approval has been given prior to the start of practice. Once practice has started, it will be counted as an unexcused absence, and no make-up day will be offered.
If the absence was excused, teacher and parent should find a day that works to have the make-up day. This could be a private lesson or, if multiple students have missed, then a small group lesson. Make-up practices should be done as close to the missed day as possible, so the dancer does not fall behind.
Parents are not allowed to watch unless given approval prior to the start of practice. Circumstances such as the two and three-year-olds might be given due to their age.
COVID-19:
Honey Bee Dance studio will follow Litchfield public school’s guidelines on mask-wearing and social distancing. Masks will not be required for adults in the studio waiting area or by dancers unless Litchfield requires them in the school. Proof of vaccinations will not be required. Courtney Webb is fully vaccinated and will be getting any booster shots to protect the studio as much as possible. She will be wearing a mask or shield at all times.
âž” In the case of a close family member testing positive, the dancer must stay home; practice videos will be sent out.
âž” In the case of a dancer testing positive, I will send out a message that someone has tested positive. I ask that any dancers in the group not vaccinated to quarantine; contact the school or read Litchfield’s “Safe Return to School Plan.â€
Whole Group Quarantine:
Grade kindergarten and younger will not have practice videos sent out, but coloring pages and a quick video of the teacher talking will be emailed to parents with information on the next steps. Additional practice(s) will be scheduled.
Grades first and up will receive practice videos, a quick video of the teacher talking, and information on the next steps in an email. Additional practice(s) might be scheduled.
Weather Events:
If Litchfield cancels school or is let out early, practice will be canceled. An alert will be sent out to parents about the change. Practice will be rescheduled for a later date. If Courtney deems the roads unsafe, she will cancel practice, a 45 minute or earlier notice will be given.
If the parent finds the roads unsafe or can not get to practice due to the conditions, please contact Courtney as soon as possible to confirm the absence.
Financial Commitment:
Monthly:
Statement for the current month will be posted in the middle of the month, payment due at the end of the month. Ex: July 11th- Posted. July 31st- Due.
Any payment not paid by the following month’s fourth day will receive a late charge of $5 every day. Ex: August 4th- $5 charge, August 5th- additional $5. Payment goes off of how many lessons are in the month, not by the total amount. Some months will be more than others. Thirty lessons and one picture day are included in the cost. Rehearsal and recital are not included.
Season:
Season payment receives a 5% discount. Thirty lessons and one picture day are included in the cost. Rehearsal and recital are not included. Season payment is due by October.
Any payments not made in a reasonable time will mean cancelation of their class and zero refunds. The parent will be given three notices before cancelation. If this happens more than three times, cancelation will also occur. Three stricks, and you are out. Any outstanding balance will need to be paid before re-registration.
Costumes:
In the second month of the winter or spring recital session, costumes will be ordered. The costume fee will be sent out and must be paid before receiving the costume. Costume measurements can be taken outside of practice time. Measurements can be done in the studio or at home. A measurement guide will be posted. If you would like the teacher to measure for you, please contact me before to find the best time since not all classes have downtime before or after.
The same costume will be used in both recitals to help with costs; please keep them safe between use. If the costume is lost or damaged, we cannot guarantee we can order a new one.
No tights will be given since we feel they only add stress and make the dancers uncomfortable. If you would like your child to wear them, you may.
Once costumes are ordered and paid for, no refund will be given; the costume is yours.
Apparel:
Apparel and accessories will be for sale in the lobby; we can charge you in Dance Studio-Pro or Square Space. Please do not just take the items; wait for an employee to check you out. Anyone caught stealing will be asked to leave Honey Bee Dance Studio immediately.
Recommendations on options for sale are always appreciated!
We are always on the lookout for new apparel ideas!
We will not always have the most suitable sizes due to needing to order them ahead of time, you can be placed on an order list, and once there is enough, we will place an order. Once a feel for sizes is figured out, the amount of waiting will hopefully be minimized.
Please do not use the Honey Bee Dance Studio logo without permission. We are not opposed to creative at-home apparel but would need to permit it as Honey Bee Dance Studio paid for this brand.
Lastly;
Let’s have fun! Honey Bee Dance Studio is all about inclusivity and finding the love of dance in everyone. We hope to create long-lasting memories and life-long friendships!
Thank you for choosing us to dance with, looking forward to many years!
