Trial classes and registration process
Dance is a new and different way to use our bodies. It can take some time to develop familiarity with the language, techniques, steps and format of dance classes. As such, a single trial session is unlikely to give a good indication of how well the dancer, style, level and class are aligned. For this reason, GTW does not offer one-off free trial classes.
Dancers new to the studio may book a two-week trial to check out the class(es) of interest.
A trial package is $50, and is non-refundable.
Trial periods must be booked through the booking system ‘studiopro’, with all details recorded in the system prior to commencement of the first class in the trial window.
On safety grounds, teachers may refuse admittance to the class for any dancer whose details have not been registered prior to the class start time. No refund will be payable by GTW for the dancer’s failure to register correctly in advance.
There is no obligation for the dancer to finalise their enrolment at the conclusion of the trial period.
No refund will be payable by GTW in the event a dancer chooses to end the trial period prior to the end of the payment window.
Enrolment must be confirmed by the end of the last class in the trial period to guarantee an available place in the class.
Should enrolment not occur by the last class in the trial period, no further fees will be payable and no class placement will be held for the dancer. The dancer can choose to enrol at a later date providing there is sufficient places in the class.
If the enrolment is confirmed, the dancer must agree to register in the system under direct debit arrangement, for the agreed class(es). Pro-rata fees will be offered if joining mid-month. Depending on the time of year, the dancer’s payment following the trial period may include a registration fee (see Registration Fee section below).
Each dancer may access a maximum of one two-week trial period.
Registration Fees
Registration fees cover the annual costs of administration related to processing member details, insurance registration, enrolment and other costs incurred by the studio for each student.
Registration fees are payable once per dancer per year, and are non-refundable.
All dancers registering for classes before the end of the last week of the previous year will have their registration fee waived.
Any dancers registering from January of term 1 and the last Friday of term 3 will be charged a registration fee of $45 per person.
Any dancers registering from the end of the last week of term 3 will incur the same registration fee of $45, plus an optional concert surcharge should they wish to join the performance.
Continuing attendance
Once registered, your place is held in the class for the calendar year, unless:
You notify us that you no longer wish to attend.
You notify us of a desired change of class.
You request a suspension of fees for one or more payment windows due to forecast absence.
Dance Fees
While GTW strives to be a friendly place where everyone is welcome, it is also a business and livelihood, with overheads, bills and staff to pay. Fees at GTW include your class tuition, insurance, any concert-related costs, as well as physical inclusions relevant to the registered program.
Fees are payable every four weeks, two weeks in advance.
Our preferred method is direct debit. If you wish to pay by an alternative method, please get in touch with accounts@glitterytappingwonderland.com
Your monthly tuition is applied to your account on the 10th of the month for the following month, and deducted on the 15th of each month.
Paid fees will secure your spot in your registered class for the duration associated with that payment period.
Payment plans may be negotiated in advance, and will be recorded on a payment plan form. Contact Miss Brianna via email mordialloc@glitterytappingwonderland.com. If you would like to organise alternative payment arrangements.
If there is insufficient funds for the debit to take place, a $5 dishonour fee will be applied, and one reminder notice will be sent. A second attempt will be made on the 18th of the month, and if there is still insufficient funds a reminder email will be sent and a further $5 dishonour fee applied. A third and final attempt will be made on the 21st of the month. If failing a third time the student will be treated as a cancellation and their account archived, their place in the class will be made available to new students. This may result in the dancer being refused entry to classes, or placed on a waiting list to rejoin the class if no spots are available.
Absences
We understand that life happens – illness, injury, work demands can all get in the way of what we love (dancing!). As such, we try to support your ability to keep dancing while also keeping GTW sustainable for everyone.
If you are unwell, injured, travelling, or otherwise unable to attend a class, you may book a make-up class for any week within the current or next payment period, in any suitable class. You must log your absence in the portal (if the absence is known in advance) or have a recorded absence, and then email Brianna with your preferred time for a makeup class.A confirmation email will be forwarded when the booking has been made.
Make-up sessions logged more than 30 days after the missed class will only be available at the discretion of, and with written notice from, Miss Brianna
Refunds
Dance fees are charged monthly to provide high levels of flexibility, and you are responsible for managing your enrolment in each payment window. In the event of unexpected periods of absence, in the first instance you should access make-up classes.
In extenuating circumstances, fee refunds may be issued at the discretion of the studio owner.
Fee refunds will only be provided on receipt of written documentation relating to the specific circumstances (e.g. medical certificate for injury or illness noting the period for which the dancer was unable to participate in classes at the studio).
Fee refunds are not available for discretionary activities such as family holidays, school camps or similar. These must be managed in advance through make-up classes or placing a suspension on the dance fees for the relevant payment window.
Dance fee suspensions
In the event of a foreseeable prolonged absence (3 weeks or more), you may ask for a suspension to be placed on your account.
If agreed, a fee suspension will guarantee your place in your usual classes without the need for you to pay dance fees for the specified period of time.
During the suspension, the dancer’s place may be offered to other dancers for make-up or trial sessions, so they may not attend class in that period.
A suspension may be cancelled early with at least 7 days’ notice in writing. The dancer may be able to attend classes within this notice period if a place is available; confirmation must be sought from Miss Brianna prior to attending any session, in this event.
Suspensions will not be considered more than once per year. Dancers having more than one extended absence must cease their enrolment and re-enrol on their return, if a place in the class is available and pay any applicable registration fees.
Concert
At GTW we aim to avoid high concert fees at already expensive times of the year. As such concert participation is free to all dancers registered before the end of term 3 each year.
For junior dancers, costumes will be provided on loan by the studio.
For adult dancers, many costume items will be provided on loan, although dancers may be required to purchase a few small items individually.
No separate venue hire fees are payable by any dancers.
Dancers will need to provide their own make-up and underwear.
Shoes may be the dancer’s own, or may be borrowed from the studio for the event if available.
Audience tickets for the concerts held at the theatre will be available for a fee. Dancers are responsible for purchasing tickets for their guests via the appropriate ticketing platform, which will be notified well in advance. Tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
Dancers who wish to watch the rest of their concert will need to purchase a ticket to secure a seat.
For some concerts a professional recording may be made available. Should this be the case, dancers may purchase a copy of the recording for a set fee.
Each class will require at least one parent helper, these volunteers do not need to purchase tickets and will be provided a front row seat for their child’s routines.
Concerts for pre-school aged classes do not require tickets, and all guests are welcome for free.
Cancelling enrolment
We hope our dancers will stay and grow with us for a long time!
Any dancer may cancel their enrolment at any time.
Cancellations must be recieved by the 5th of the month to not be included in the next payment debit.
Cancellation must be notified by email to mordialloc@glitterytappingwonderland.com
Cancellation will take effect from the end of the payment window after the agreed end date.
All accounts must be settled in full with GTW prior to the agreed cancellation date.
Following the agreed cancellation date, the dancer’s details will be archived, and their place will be released to another dancer.
The dancer is free to return to GTW in the future should they wish to do so. In this event they will need to re-register prior to attending classes, and no trial period will be available.
Credit Card fees cannot be refunded if fees are paid through the Dance Pro Portal via Stripe as they do not refund these fees. Paying through the Dance Pro Portal incurs a fee 1.75% + 30c for Australian cards and 2.9% + 30c for international and American Express cards.
