JUST DANCE STUDIO
Welcome! Just Dance is well known for our competition success and professional performances. We pride ourselves in consistently offering quality classes in a safe, nurturing environment with age appropriate choreography, music, movement and costuming for all ages and abilities. If your child is wanting to dance for fun or are committed to taking your skills and passions to the highest levels possible, Just Dance will help you reach your goals and reach your highest potential. Our reputation is important and we expect parents and students to be professional in the way they represent Just Dance. It is important that parents are supportive of their children, Just Dance staff members, and our program policies.
Important: Each student must have undergone a complete medical exam within the last year. Please complete the medical form on our online parent portal. Informing us of any physical, mental or conditional learning that may be present so that instructors may adapt the learning environment to ensure a safer and happier dance experience.
STUDIO RULES:
• Choreography, costuming and all studio content remain property of Just Dance and may not be reproduced or sold by any students, parents or staff without permission of the Director.
• Please show respect for your teachers and fellow dancers. No talking, touching, hanging on Ballet barres will be allowed in the classroom. Cell phones are allowed inside the classroom but must be set to silent.
• NO food or gum allowed in the studios
• Social media posts must be appropriate according to code of conduct.
DROP OFF/PICK UP
When dropping off or picking up your child, DO NOT park directly by the studio doors. That area is strictly designated for handicap and ambulance parking ONLY. DO NOT PARK or BLOCK the ambulance driveway at anytime. Please use the parking spots available along both sides of the street. Small children need to be picked up at the door after class. Be sure to go over traffic safety with your child and let them know to stay close to the studio until their ride arrives. Please be courteous with drop off and pick up times.
Water bottles labeled with student name is highly recommended. No pop/sports drink or juice allowed in the building.
ATTENDANCE
Classes at Just Dance are designed to challenge students in body awareness, activity, and movement. This involves physical contact. Instructors will often need to make hands-on contact to adjust students’ alignment and to demonstrate proper motion. If this makes students uncomfortable, please contact the instructor or email brittjustdance@gmail.com.
Dance is a progressive program that builds from week to week. Class warm-ups are so important for the safety of students so please make sure dancers are on time for class. Please inform the studio of any absence. You can also excuse your child using the parent portal.
ILLNESS/ABSENCE
Individuals will not be allowed to enter if they have had any of the follow symptoms in the last 24 hours: Starting antibiotics/medications, temperature above 100*, cough, sore throat, difficulty breathing, gastrointestinal symptoms, abdominal pain, unexplained rash, fatigue, headache, new loss of smell/taste, new muscle aches, any other sign of illness. Please do not attend classes if you have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days. Students must be cleared by doctor to resume class. Please do not attend class if you have had contact with someone with confirmed or presumptive diagnosis of COVID-19 or someone who is ill with a respiratory illness in the last 14 days. Please do not attend classes for 14 days following a visit to an area where there is “widespread sustained community spread†of COVID-19.
If your dancer is injured and unable to participate, they are expected to attend class. Dancers learn and retain information by observing classes. Please bring a doctor’s note confirming the injury with dates of non-participation. No tuition will be reimbursed due to an injury.
PARENT OBSERVATION
Studio areas are closed to parents. All students must be dropped off at the front door. Parents must be prompt when picking up children.
We ask parents to remind children to use the restroom PRIOR to class time. If an emergency visit to the restroom is necessary during class, students need to ask permission before leaving the teaching area. All students who need assistance with the restroom must have a parent/guardian readily available outside the studio. No instructor or Just Dance staff member will assist with bathroom visits.
DRESS CODE
Students must be in proper dancewear & shoes to participate in class.
Ballet Students:
• Hair must be in a bun; short hair must be pinned back off face
• Pink Ballet Slippers are required (ordered through the studio)
• Students must attend class in class attire (ordered through the studio)
• No jewelry is to be worn (stud earrings are allowed)
Jazz Students:
• Hair must be pulled back off face
• Dance shoes are required (ordered through the studio)
• Students must attend class in clothing that they can move freely in (tank top, fitted t-shirt, shorts, leggings) NO STREET CLOTHING ALLOWED!
• No jewelry is to be worn (stud earrings are allowed)
Preschool Students:
• Hair must be pulled back off face
• Pink Ballet Slippers are required (ordered through the studio)
• Students must attend class in comfortable clothing (leotard, tights, leggins, shorts, t-shirt) NO LONG PRINCESS DRESSES ALLOWED!
• No jewelry is to be worn (stud earrings are allowed)
CLASS CANCELLATION/MODIFICATIONS
All cancellations will be posted on the cancellation page of the studio website, Facebook, and Instagram. We will also send message of closings via email. The safety of our students, teachers and parents is of utmost concern. If the weather is bad (snow, ice) we may cancel classes. Generally, we follow school weather closures. Sometimes, however, the weather and roads may clear in time for our afternoon classes.
Community Health Restrictions: In the event that large groups cannot assemble, we will modify our class offerings to abide by community health standards and continue offering services to our clients. These modifications may include: Offering recorded classes for students to do at home and/or other appropriate modifications.
Natural Disaster/Facility Closure: If our facility is unable to hold classes due to a natural disaster or other event requiring closure, we will modify our class offerings to continue offering services to our clients. These modifications may include: Offering recorded classes for students to do at home and/or other appropriate modifications.
We do not schedule additional makeup classes or refund for classes cancelled due to weather, pandemics, natural disasters, or other facility closures. Just Dance reserves the right to provide a substitute teacher if the regular teacher is ill or otherwise unable to teach. Just Dance reserves the right to reschedule or combine classes.
TUITION/PAYMENTS
Tuition is due the 5th day of each month. Tuition is based monthly and is not affected by how many times the class meets in any one particular calendar month (5-class month is not extra and a 3-class month is not less). Competition Teams will meet for 2 weeks in August and tuition will be prorated 50%. Recitals will be held in December and May, depending when in the month those are held there may be no tuition collected or 50% collected. Tuition is due regardless of attendance and is not affected by absence, holiday, vacation, cancellation (or modification). Tuition, registration, costume, recital fees, accessories & competition fees are non-refundable.
• You can view your balance/payment history and pay online any time in your parent portal.
• A $10.00 late fee will be assessed to any tuition not paid by the last day of each month.
• All returned checks will be subject to a $25.00 service charge and be repaid by cash or money order only!
• Forms of payment accepted are checks, cash, and credit cards through the online parent portal.
REFUNDS/CREDITS TO ACCOUNTS
Refunds will only be issued if a regular class is cancelled by the Just Dance Staff due to sickness or family emergency in the event a substitute teacher is not available.
COSTUME/COMPETITION FEES
All students will be fitted for a costume as all students will participate in recitals and specialty performances. No exceptions! Costumes will be handled, ordered, and measured for by our staff. Costumes and competition fees will be billed to your account (due dates provided in individual class emails). Accounts need to be brought to current and all costumes must be paid in full before students can take items home. Once costumes are ordered, refunds cannot be issued. Competition fees are non-refundable. Just Dance will register competition teams to the competitions of our choosing and fees will be billed accordingly. If in the event a competition is cancelled we will post refunds if applicable using their refund policy.
WRITTEN NOTIFICATION WITHDRAW
Anyone that signs up for classes is financially responsible for any and all costs associated with the class from the date the contracts are signed until the date of the written notification that a person will no longer be involved in the class. If your child wishes to discontinue class written notification is required to release her/him from the program as you will continue to be charged for any and all costs until written notification is received. Acceptable written notifications are letters signed by a parent /guardian or an email sent from a parent/guardian email account. The letter/email must state the student’s name, class enrolled in, and reason for discontinuing the class.
COMMUNICATION
Just Dance keeps families informed through monthly newsletters, email, Facebook, the studio website, and through your parent portal. We suggest that everyone provide us with their email address, “like†the studio Facebook public page and follow us on Instagram to stay informed. This handbook has been created to outline our policies and answer many of your questions and acts as a great resource throughout the year.
