CODE OF CONDUCT
Code of Conduct
At May Downs, we are committed to fostering a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment for all students, families, staff, and
visitors. This Code of Conduct outlines the behaviors and responsibilities expected of everyone involved in our dance school.
1. Respect and Inclusion
Treat all students, staff, and families with respect, kindness, and fairness, regardless of age, background, ability, or identity.
Encourage teamwork and celebrate the achievements of others.
Respect differences and embrace diversity within our school community.
Discriminatory or disrespectful language or behavior will not be tolerated.
2. Student Expectations
Attendance: Arrive on time for all classes, rehearsals, and performances. Notify the school in advance if you will be absent.
Preparedness: Bring the appropriate attire, footwear, and equipment for each class.
Effort: Always try your best, stay focused, and be open to feedback from teachers.
Behavior: Be supportive, considerate, and respectful toward peers and instructors. Disruptive or unsafe behavior is unacceptable.
Studio Etiquette: Respect studio spaces, props, and equipment by keeping them clean and organized.
3. Parent/Guardian Expectations
Support and encourage your child in their dance journey in a positive manner.
Refrain from interrupting classes.
Model respectful behaviour toward all students, parents, staff, and administrators.
Refrain from bringing negativity into the studio
Address any concerns or feedback directly with the principals
Ensure students are punctual, properly attired, and adhere to the studio's rules.
4. Communication
School Updates: Regular updates will be shared via email & newsletters. It is the responsibility of families to read and stay informed.
5. Health and Safety
Students must report any injuries or health concerns to their teacher immediately.
Parents must ensure emergency contact details are up-to-date.
Students should always bring water and maintain good personal hygiene.
6. Performance and Events
Attendance at rehearsals and performances is mandatory unless prior notice has been given.
Students are expected to behave professionally and respectfully at all events, representing the dance school positively.
Parents and students must adhere to all event schedules, costuming guidelines, and backstage rules.
7. Social Media and Privacy
Do not share photos or videos of other students without permission.
Use of social media to criticise or cause harm to students, staff, or the dance school will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy and confidentiality of all members of the dance school community.
Students & Parents are welcome to share moments on social media, eg. at competitions, concert, exams etc.

No photos or video is to be taken inside the studio unless authorised by the teacher incharged.
8. Consequences of Breaching the Code of Conduct
Failure to adhere to this Code of Conduct may result in:
A verbal warning or discussion.
A formal written warning.
Temporary or permanent suspension from classes or events.
The severity of consequences will depend on the nature of the breach and will be determined at the discretion of school
management.
9. Commitment to a Positive Environment
By participating in May Downs Performing Arts, all students, families, and staff agree to uphold this Code of Conduct. Together, we
can maintain a safe, inspiring, and enjoyable dance community.
