Studio Policies, Code of Conduct & Waiver
2026–2027 Dance Season

BSD Dance Studio is committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and positive environment
where every dancer can grow in confidence, character, and dance education. The following
policies help ensure a successful experience for all students and families.

DANCER CODE OF CONDUCT
All dancers are expected to:
• Treat instructors, staff, volunteers, fellow dancers, and families with kindness and
respect.
• Arrive on time and prepared for class.
• Wear the required dance attire and shoes.
• Bring only water into the studios. Food and gum are not permitted.
• Keep cell phones and electronic devices put away during class unless instructed
otherwise.
• Respect studio equipment, mirrors, flooring, and barres.
• Help keep the studio clean by picking up belongings and disposing of trash.
• Follow the instructor’s directions and participate to the best of their ability.
• Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and good sportsmanship.
• Represent BSD Dance Studio positively both inside and outside of the studio,
including on social media.

PARENT/GUARDIAN CODE OF CONDUCT
We ask all families to help us maintain a positive dance community by:
• Treating staff, instructors, volunteers, dancers, and other families with respect.
• Supporting their dancer in a positive and encouraging manner.
• Following studio communication procedures.
• Keeping current with studio emails, announcements, and Parent Portal
notifications.
• Following all drop-off and pick-up procedures.
• Addressing concerns privately with Studio Administration.
• Modeling respectful behavior both in person and online.

FINANCIAL POLICIES
Tuition, costume fees, registration fees, and other studio charges are outlined in the
current Studio Handbook and Tuition & Fee Schedule.
Monthly tuition is due according to the published payment schedule.
Accounts with overdue balances may be subject to late fees and may affect participation
in performances or future classes until balances are resolved.

SAFE ENVIRONMENT
BSD Dance Studio is committed to maintaining a safe, welcoming, and inclusive
environment for every dancer.
Students and families are expected to treat one another with dignity and respect at all
times.
Concerns regarding student safety should be reported to Studio Administration
immediately.

ANTI-BULLYING & HARASSMENT
BSD has zero tolerance for:
• Bullying
• Harassment
• Intimidation
• Discrimination
• Retaliation
This includes behavior occurring:
• In the studio
• At performances or studio events
• Through text messages
• On social media
• Through electronic communication
Violations may result in disciplinary action up to and including dismissal from the studio.

NON-DISCRIMINATION
BSD Dance Studio welcomes students of all backgrounds and provides programs without
discrimination consistent with applicable federal and Michigan law.

ALCOHOL, DRUG & VAPING POLICY
The use, possession, distribution, or being under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs,
marijuana, vaping products, or other intoxicating substances is prohibited during any BSD
class, rehearsal, performance, competition, event, or activity.
Prescription medications must be used only as directed by a licensed healthcare provider.

ASSUMPTION OF RISK & RELEASE OF LIABILITY
Participation in dance, acrobatics, fitness classes, rehearsals, performances, camps,
workshops, and related activities involves inherent risks, including the possibility of injury.
By enrolling, I acknowledge these risks and voluntarily assume responsibility for myself
and/or my child.
I certify that the participant is physically able to safely participate and agree to notify BSD
Dance Studio of any medical conditions, injuries, or restrictions that may affect
participation.
To the fullest extent permitted under Michigan law, I release and hold harmless BSD Dance
Studio, BSD LLC, its owners, employees, instructors, volunteers, contractors, and agents
from claims arising from participation in studio activities, except where prohibited by law.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
Enrollment at BSD Dance Studio signifies that the student and parent/guardian have read,
understand, and agree to abide by these policies.
Failure to comply with these policies may result in disciplinary action, suspension, or
dismissal from the studio at the discretion of BSD Dance Studio.
